    Hi,
I'm trying to take 'bits and pieces' that are good for me.
Currently I add Lynwoods (flaxseed, sunflower, pumpkin seeds) to cereal each day.
I take fish oil/Omega capsules (as don't eat enough fish).
I eat a tablespoon of honey every few days.
Each day eat fruit, mainly healthy cereal (Alpen Sugar free or Shreeded Wheat)
Drink green, white teas, lots of water

I'm male, 35, healthy enough. Just wondering what else I can take to supplement my health/wellbeing?
I know there's probably a million things but I'm looking for anything that's easy and good for me (if you know what I mean)....

    cheers,
    Pa.

Have a look at vitamin d supplementing if you don't get a lot of sun. 2000iu is probably a good starting point but read up a bit first.

You can nearly never eat too many veg.

    Plenty of water.

Not sure really other than that.

Sounds odd, but the odd cup of coffee has been shown to have significant health benefits. Coffee is the number one source of anti-oxidants for most people (yes, blueberries have more but how often do you eat blueberries?) and coffee drinkers tend to have lower rates of gallstones, diabetes, prostrate cancer and several other things.

I'd second the vitamin D, and possibly magnesium if you are concerned about bone health.

Other than a good fish oil and Vit d3 - i'd say don't try to make it overly complicated. Why? Because it's not.

Eat good WHOLE unrefined foods as much as you can and keep active and you are a step ahead of most. Reading the stickies at the top of this forum and in the fitness forum would be a great idea. Full of invaluable info.

Pa, it's safe to say you're already healthier than most (if not all!) of my male friends of the same age.. if i suggested linwoods or anything like that they'd probably laugh at me

are there any particular health concerns that you have? i know you say youre 'healthy enough' but that's fairly vague. VitC is essential for the aul immune system, i was very diligent at taking it twice daily last winter and it was the first winter in yonks that i didnt pick up a few colds/chest infections etc.. other than that, what kind of exercise do you get?

Do you eat much veg? you certainly seem to have fruit covered anyway.. would you consider switching the cereals for porridge? or the lizi's granola? or eggs, the odd time? it doesnt look like you have a huge amount of protein in your diet but it's hard to tell really from the little you've posted

well done anyway on already being healthier than the avg!

I totally agree with ULstudent, get your nutrients from food whenever possible, there is NO substitute for a good whole foods diet.

I take 2,000IU vitamin D on days I don't get sun, a fish oil cap on days where I haven't eaten some wild fish and magnesium every day. I try and eat calf liver once or twice a week, it's nature's multivitamin and full of stuff that is hard to get from other foods.
