This might have already been done and PPL might be already be making plans but I thought I'd add this. There's a few things to do in the place (Alot more then Phoenix by the looks of it)
Feel free to add more if you find some or if I missed any out.:D

It's one of the coolest spots on the map. A bohemian hangout with a rich mix of art, theater, and shopping, it has been the epicenter of all things alternative for many years. 7 Stages Theatre, Horizon Theatre, Variety Playhouse, Star Community Bar (with a shrine to Elvis) and many pubs and nightlife places are available.

His restaurant, located in a former 7-11 on Fairburn Road in SW Atlanta, has been dishing up delicious, expertly-smoked ribs since 1994. Also on the menu: Chinese food, chicken wings, rib tips, BBQ chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers (known here as Butcher Burgers) and a righteous collection of Southern soul food vegetables that change daily. Very nice work. There's plenty in Atlanta I'd like to see, the Coke factory, Aquarium, but with my 4 days there, like the rest of my Mania trips before, there'll be nothing but WWE in my itinerary.

Two years ago I went to Atlanta with my family and had a great time. We visited both the Atlanta Zoo and the Aquarium, both were great and had some great sights. The Aquarium is just so mindblowingly massive, something I'd recommend to anyone who likes marine life. Not to mention the whales, seals and penguins, great stuff. And the Zoo was a blast, as the weather was not to hot, we went in late April, so probably similar to Wrestlemania weekend weather. The gorillas were the highlight for me, especially the silverbacks. There is so many shops in Atlanta too, so if shopping is your thing, haha, you won't soon run out of places to shop. I only spent two days in Atlanta but had a great time. I'm excited to go back and this time for the ultimate, Wrestlemania 27. I'm not sure how much sightseeing I'll be doing honestly, as just like Kane-N-Nite said, I'll be so consumed in the Wrestlemania weekend and festivities that I might not get around to the city itself. I know people in the previous thread mentioned something about safety, I must say we had no problems at all during our stay. Like most big cities, there are bad areas and all that but we were in downtown Atlanta and didn't run into any of it. About twenty minutes past Atlanta the area looked a bit rough but we were just driving through.

I'd like to add one place I plan on going to during my stay in Atlanta. Abdullah the Butcher's House of Ribs. It is about 15 minutes from the Georgia Dome and Abdullah is known to be there from time to time, and being Wrestlemania weekend, I'd think he might be there. The place is known for having some amazing bbq and there is some great history there with pictures of Abdullah from all over the world and all kinds of wrestling photos and some memorabilia on the walls. I haven't been there but hope to as I've heard great things about it.

Thanks rude awakening for compiling this list and sharing it with us. The address for Abdullah's is 2387 Fairburn Rd SW, Atlanta, GA, if you would like to add that to the list.

If your planning on staying Longer in Atlanta, i recommend getting the Atlanta Citypass. I done it this year for the Royal Rumble when i was there, i think its something like 75 dollars but its worth every penny, some of the best attractions in the world are included.

    http://www.citypass.com/atlanta

Theres also an Atlanta Braves (Major League Baseball) package available too and that includes an Atlanta Braves game, One day at Six Flags Over Georgia, Georgia Aquarium, Stone Mountain Park and World of Coca Cola for 89 dollars.

    http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/atl/ticketing/combo_deal.jsp

It works out alot cheaper to get one of these deals as the attractions are expensive if you have to pay for each of them separate.

    Wow awesome thread!

Probably saved a lot of forum members many a man hour checking out tourist attractions etc :)

Not me. Done it the last 2 years. It's alright to do but I found Mania weekend can take it out of you. I'll be glad to get my weekend in Atlanta done then head home.
Although was really great catching SD in Vegas this year.

Yea Vegas is a great place, aslong as you dont loose all your money on the BJ tables like we did lol.:D
Was worth it though, deffo go back.

Yeah, i'd say vegas is really cool. I'm really unsure what to do weather just atlanta or 2 or 3 days somewhere else afterwards. Not a while lot of a price difference - orlando - new york - california lol.. must decide which one!!:)

The helicopter trip is a bit pricey but worth i'd say.....

We'll be going to Orlando for a few days before flying to Atlanta.

    Should be good :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,785 ✭✭✭Kane-N-Nite

I advise people who have extra time to go out & see the attractions. The coke factory, zoo etc. whatever. If you got time go. I was in Houston & saw very little of it really. Phoenix was cool but I only saw downtown really. And I know in Atlanta it will be the same story. I'll get used to the route between Axxess & my hotel. That's it pretty much.
So if you want extra time to explore, plan that now as Mania weekend is non stop. :)

hey where do you purchase NBA tickets for the hawks game? which ones did you purchase as the tickets seem quite steep, I was thinking paying a max of $50

Also has anyone got an idea of what MLB games on during the Mania week I had a look at http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=atl&m=4&y=2011 but it's hard to figure if the games are home/away

cheers for the link, I've never been to a Basketball match before which of the 300 blocks would you suggest to get tickets, you mentioned 319, do the teams change sides at half time cos would love to be at the side which Shaq would be aiming towards, the block next to 319 is 43.50 so just wondering if it's worth paying extra worth for that?

I've just been to MSG to see the Knicks but was in a side block. American sports arenas tend to be quite good with views good from most areas. Yeah the sides switch after the first 2 quarters

Anyone know decent bars/nightlife as close to Philips Arena area? I'm staying at Omni so trying to look for best places to go in that area on Fri night... would be cool if we all manage to get a meetup place for a few drinks at some point maybe?

If your into Celtic or the premiership the games are on in Fado's Irish bar. Sometimes a cover charge though pending the match.

Games ,with the time difference, kick off very early. The Celtic rangers game was 7.30 am at wm in Orlando.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 589 ✭✭✭killyourtv

Cool, hopefully they're showing the United game.

Ill be going to Six Flags on that Monday also. Its best to buy the flash pass like i did as everything will be crowded in Atlanta due to Spring Break.

Sweet. I think we got a flash pass, can't be certain. Either way I shall be seeing you there!

I did indeed. Didn't like it at first, but I've come to live with its result. Could have been worse I guess.

I enjoyed it, although the divas match was useless, it made no sence whatsoever. Del Rio winning the rumble was epic!

I think I´ll be going to Six Flags on tuesday, day before I´ll be in Chicago, for Monday Night Raw! Ringside front row babyyyyy! I hope they´re doing a Supershow as usually, so I can travel to Atlanta in tuesday. If not, I´ll be where Smackdown show be...
