Newbie or not??? What decides.....

Just wondering what constitutes a newbie to Boards??
Does it pertain to the number of posts you have or the amount of time elapsed since you joined???

Personally, I've only been on here since March 2009 but I don't consider myself a newbie........That said, I'm still learning new things every few days e.g. I read a thread the other day in Helpdesk or feedback and I had to google TL;DR:o

So, would I be a newbie based on my join date or post count or how is it determined in your point of view??

I was a member for about 2 years and had about 5 posts as I was looking for band members but left the account and the website after that but came back about 3 years ago, amazingly enough, I still remembered my user name!

It was all downhill after that!

So, for 2 years I was still a "newbie". So I reckon it's post count.

Regardless, the thing that pisses me off the most is when people actually take the phrase and use it in real life.

I know a couple of people (unfortunately) who would actually call people "newbs" in real life.

    It's cringeworthy.

It only pisses you off because you are a newb.

That said, I don't read the posts of anyone with less than 1200 or with a join date of closer than 10 January 2009, the day Boxxy was truely discovered! :D

Yeah, the way people go on about and attack newbies sometimes,as if they are newbies to the whole phenomenon of the internet let alone boards,is sad.

    We were all newbies once!

I've only had my account since Sept. '08, but I don't consider myself a newbie.

It's not so much about join date or post count as much as understanding of how the forum works that dictates whether or not you're a noob.

    At least, in my opinion..

    Exactly.

I've been on forums for many years before boards; just because i've a low post count, doesn't mean i don't read boards every day or that i've a lesser understanding of the forum than someone who rattles off random posts to up their post count...

Experience with vBulletin or other forums = the key.

The join date would dictate whether your a newbie or not, post counts aren't that important.
