Wow, they didn't even try. Do they still have a pile of lifer Eircell employees working in planning or what?

Looks like I'm staying with 3 so far.

this is the PCA+ price plan from the vodafone website, find it hard to believe they would downgrade it and become less competitive?

So for the 32gb phone with Three: €60 cheaper for the handset, €5 cheaper per month and also1.5gb more per month in data.

    Vodafone fail.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,388 ✭✭✭gbee

From what I understand here, They want about €300 for the phone plus LESS service than what I've already got.

I don't see a Vodafone iPhone 4 in my future, I do have an upgrade to factor in, but their starting prices and limits are not attractive.

Confirmed with someone in Vodafone Head Office in Leopardstown that all Vodafone stores open 9am Friday morning, limited stocks.

Its a rip off. Can't believe how far away from three they are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68,317 ✭✭✭✭seamus

Just waiting to see what O2 come up with now, but three are the front runner for me. Looks like I'll be switching.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 337 ✭✭maninblack

no pre-pay options? hmmm, looks like I'll be getting it from Apple so and hoping VF will sell me a pre-pay micro-SIM!

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 25,558 Mod ✭✭✭✭Dades

The plans are crap UNLESS everyone you know is also on Vodafone. That's the one light in the darkness that is their prices.

The data allowance is bollocks though.

oh my god! how can they be that uncompeditive with price plans? three offer 300% more data usage, more time and cheaper price on even the lowest tarriff.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,197 ✭✭✭elvis jones

Just seen that the CPW won't be getting any 32GB on Three..................all 16GB.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,528 ✭✭✭NinjaTruncs

I can't believe the price they are trying to get for the 8GB 3gs. No one in their right mind would pay that much for one on contract.

    complete ripoff by Vodafone...
3 are a clear winner as regards pricing and price plans...
    ho ho it's off to 3 I go ..:)

Mate is a manager in one of their stores.

Three must keeping all those stock for their own stores.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,653 ✭✭✭kingshankly

vodafone hang your head in shame was comparing their 60 euro a month compared to 3s
    vodafone 300 minutes- 3 has 500
    vodafone 300 text - 3 has also 300
    vodafone 1 gb- 3 has 2gb
    vodafone 199-3cost 119

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,568 ✭✭✭thewools

Doing the Maths for a 16GB iPhone 4:

Assuming you dont text or call other networks that is!

    Vodafone
    Perfect Choice Access Plus = €909 over 18months (inc €279 for phone + 18 X €35)

    "3"
    Classic Flex - Max = €939 over 18 months (inc €219 for phone + 18 X €40)

However "3" offer 3 times the data allowance and 350 flex-units which can be used for calls / texts / data

    So what everyone think???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 865 ✭✭✭Simon201

Nah! something wrong there - they wouldn't be going from 2gb data to 500mb!
Price of €379 for that 32gb is sh1te tho!

I think i wont be queing anywhere this Friday, and waiting for the next round of stock to arrive, and watching Boards to see what the best option is.
Ive waited this long for an iPhone, i can wait another few weeks, or months, whatever the case maybe.
ive my name on the list at my local Vodafone store, number 2 on the list, but there is no way im signing up to that price plan for 18mths!

so far, 3 is the outright winner, but i'll wait to see what their coverage and service is like when all the rest of you sign up on Friday. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 383 ✭✭cyberspi

because all my contacts are on VF it doesn't make sense for me to change. I was all set to go queuing on Fri morn but these prices are a complete ripoff, can't believe they've increased the price of the 8gb3gs and have reduced the data allowance. because of this I will hold onto my money and either go sim free on the simply plan or wait for the white one to come out afterall

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,598 ✭✭✭joe316

Absolutely ripoff from VF, they dont think that its 2007 and they can increase prices.

Actually scratch that, in 2007 companies werent even as bad as what ye are doing now. Disgraceful.

    !

Thats what i am thinking as well. Its a really dumb marketing move ( especially after knowing the 3 deals). I think this is just another marketing stunt by vodafone ( considering the fact that they havent officially listed the price packages on their website). They will probably bring in a new price package tomorow and update it on their website.

I am definitely moving to 3 if Vodafone stick with this price plans.

2 GB data is intact except for those signing up on or after 01/09/2010 when data reduces to 500 mB on Perfect Choice Access Plus* 35 euro plan

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,378 ✭✭✭Cherrycola

So what are the chances of more than a handful of people actually getting an iphone4 and being able to sign up before Sept 1st?
If the stock sells out this friday, when will the new stock be available in store? Not until after Sept 1st i think!

    Yes it says:
*Perfect Choice Access Plus plan details valid to 31.08.10
New customers signing up or changing price plan from 01.09.2010 on Perfect Choice Access Plus & Perfect Choice Access Plus 150 will have a data allowance of 500MB, Perfect Choice Access Plus 300 and above will have a data allowance of 1GB

even with still having 2gb of data, three still works out at better value. for shame vodaphone. I bet o2 will be just as ****. its a shame really. I have been with 02 since i was 11 (now 21) now i will be moving because they cannot be compeditive

Ireland 4 million, therefore less volume = high prices, higher volume = lower prices.

Vodafone do give seriously cheap international calls compared to every other network. FFS o2 charge like 1.49 per minute to ring Australia. Not important to everyone but some people do ring International a lot, aside from that though it is way more expensive than its competitors.

People don't put in enough research and end up sticking with vodafone.

Well don't think that's a major selling point for most customers. If I used my iPhone for international calls I would use Skype then. That's a lot cheaper.

3 are the clear winners here, as you say above but as well as that with VF you get 150 mins & 150 texts

With 3 you get 350 flexi units and 2 texts = 1 flexi unit so, that equals,

    200 mins & 300 texts,

    or 100 mins & 500 texts,

or 300 mins & 100 texts, or any combination

Free 3 to 3 calls, included not a "free extra"

Then from the free extras you can choose, say unlimited ROI landline calls

There is no choice here if you want an iPhone 4, 3 is the way to go, and I've been with Vodafone since 1999

Bizzare how VF have dropped the ball on this one, 02 aswell. For an extra 20 euros a month on top of my usual PAYG 20 a month...I get an iPhone 4...with texts, calls AND data just for switching to 3?
