    Hey Guys,

    Here's the 'skinny'.

I'm not fat. Sure I have a bit of padding etc... but I'm okay. Basically though, I have a nerd body. Little muscle, no definition and not fit. I want that to change.

So I've decided that in order to keep my motivation up I'm starting an online journal on Blogger.com (I was going to do it on boards but I prefer the blog platform). I wont bother repeating everything I've already said in my opening post on the blog so here's a link.

    NOTE TO MODS:
This isint spam. I really just want adivce off people who know what they're talking about and I will be participating in the fitness forum from now on using this account --> SD_GettingFit. You'll notice that the blog isnt and never will be in any way monetized.

Anyway, it would be great to get feedback etc. I'm still not exactly sure what kind of diet I should be on for someone with my body type (i.e. I could stand to loose a few but not fat and want to gain SOME muscle). I'll be posting pics up on the blog later tonight for those of you with a 'strong stomach' :p.

Anyways thanks and I look forward to talking to you all over the coming months and getting to know everyone :D

    - SD

-> Also, my Twitter account I made for my training

Read the stickies for advice on training and diet. If you have any questions, ask away and somebody is sure to answer them fairly quickly.

Other than that, step away from the blog and get down the gym.

What fitness plan you going to do? Your blog didn't really say clearly.

Completely. The blog which I'll update once/twice a week is more so like a journal to record my progress and if I feel like giving up I can see how far I've come.

Hard work is the order of the day here.

Thats what I need help with.

I know cardio will have to be a big part of it to shed the fat as well as toning by lifting weights, shedding fat etc.

Basically I'm going for less calories with protien diet.

Working out 5 days per week with two rest days and healthy eating throughout.

    Any advice?

    Read body by science.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0071597174?ie=UTF8&tag=baye&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0071597174

I honestly cant recommend this book enough. It disproves most exercise myths while teaching you exactly what you need. Also Cardio should be a small to non-existent part of your training. You should focus on correct strength training as it will yield far greater benefits.Keep your workouts short but intense and remember to get loads of rest.

You'll need to build some muscle first before you start "toning up"!

Basic compound movements (Squat, deadlift, chins, dips, push ups, rows, presses)
    3 days lifting/2 days running(hills preferably)
Start off slow and build up your work capacity
Don't just go in all guns blazing but don't half arse it either
