    Folks,

Im just wondering if gym rings are any good/worth the money?
I see them online for €49 with the straps. Ive just cancelled my gym membership and have set up my garage as my new gym. Ive bought a 24kg kettlebell and was wondering whether the gym rings with be a good addition.

    Sure.
They take up little space and can be used for loads of different presses and pulls. If you have done dips, try doing a dip on rings and you will immediately realise why they are so good.

Great stuff. They seem to be cheap at 49 too and I can secure them to the rafters in the garage.

    Hi,

I have to say that gym rings were an amazing addition to my home setup! As d'Oracle said, the second you try to do a dip on them you'll see how good they are. Just a word of advice when you get them, they take a while to get used to them as your balance will be all over the place when suspended from them with some movements, makes you feel useless the first few times!

do you have a link for those rings? sounds like a decent price.

Rafters in a converted attic be sturdy enough to use wouldn't they?

    Worth their weight in gold.
I use the rings both in the gym and at home.
Their pretty much responsible for alot of my strength and mobility.

Id say so. I have my chin up bar across them and they seem to be strong enough for that

Do you have a certain routine or exercises you do on the rings?

Do you have a certain routine or exercises you do on the rings?

    The list is endless..

Ring Push Ups (decline and incline)
    Ring Pull Ups/Chin Ups
    Ring Arrows
    Ring Dips
    Ring Standing Curls
    Ring Tricep Extension
    Single Leg Squat (holding rings)
    Ring Flies
    Ring Planks
    Ring Rows
    Static holds and L-sits

    ..and the almighty Muscle-up!!:D

You can add weight to alot of the above as well.
    Here's my home set-up.

Forgot to mention skin the cat, inverted hangs and Back/Front levers. These are more gymnastic style moves and you'd need a little extra room.

    £29.34 here http://www.suntekstore.co.uk/Fitness-Gymnastic-Rings-Gym-Exercise-Crossfit.html

strange price for a UK store which makes me think it they might be dropshippers, i.e. i might be posted from China.

EDIT: they are -We ship from Hong Kong, China.

Finally put the rings up in the garage last night and could manage a measly 1 dip. Everything shook! Realised just how hard it is to get balanced on them. Talk about an all over workout! Gona be a fun few weeks getting used to them

Stick with it. I could only manage one dip at the start of the year. If your consistent with them you'll progress pretty fast.
You'll also see the carry over it has on other lifts.

Try some negative only dips, I find them easier than even a support hold.

    Also ring pushups, and rollouts
