I thought that any teams that met in earlier rounds could not be drawn together in the quarters (eg Meath v Dublin), but my dad was sitting beside the bomber at the Dubs match today and he said that Dublin could get Meath and Cork v Kerry . . Is this correct?

Would love another crack at those jammy gits. . Theres only so far luck will get you, I want the royals . .

The Bomber is correct. Only provincial finalists cannot meet eachother in the Quarter Finals.

Btw anyone know where and when the QF draw is taking place?

Well Drumpot you will probable get another try at us but remember that there is a difference between a team that wins by a disputed score and a team that wins by 8 points.
    Up The Dubs

kerry have already played cork and limerick in the championship so far so as far as I know that kerry will only be able to draw against kildare, dublin or the sligo/down winner for the next match.

If OP is correct then Kerry can play cork!

So in the QF draw pots are the following teams
    1. Dublin
    2. Meath
    3. Cork
    4. Kerry
    5. Down
    6. Roscommon
    7. Tyrone
    8. Kildare

    There will be two pots

    1 dublin
    2 cork
    3 down
    4 kildare

    1 kerry
    2 roscommon
    3 tyrone
    4 meath

    Pot 1 plays pot 2

Not an open draw, if so then Kerry could play Tyrone....

We will see who each plays tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 107 ✭✭Dermotsull13

    2 pots - no restrictions.

    We'll end up with Kerry/Cork...Meath/Dublin... Tyrone/Down....Roscommon/Kildare

Have feeling Dublin end up gettin Kerry :p Hope get Meath though

no if kerry draw against cork they will have to be redrawn as far as I am aware so kerry hopefully will draw against the weakest team which is roscommon, possibly dublin (kerry could get hammered), would rather they drew against kildare or meath they might have a chance, if they draw against down or tryrone kerry will need to belt up for a rocky ride!

  • Subscribers Posts: 16,614 ✭✭✭✭copacetic

Not sure why everyone is hoping for Meath, winner of that will play Kerry game winner. Not really ideal. Roscommon is the draw everyone should be wanting before Meath. although obviously there are no easy games, this round or the semi.

No Snuggles, you're wrong there. The only situation that results in a redraw is if teams that met in the provincial final come out of the draw. As it is this can't happen (i.e. none of the provincial losers are left) - so Kerry can draw Cork and Meath can draw Dublin etc.

really, didn't know that now. say it be a mixed bag what ever the drawn outcome for the teams that will be announced tomorrow.

Afraid not its the 4 provincial winners against the 4 qualifiers. All combos are game because the 4 provincial losers all lost today. Cork can play Kerry and Dublin can play Meath for example.

From a Dublin perspective i hope they get Meath. Don't concede silly goals, destroy them in midfield again and a comfortable win should follow. Draw Tyrone or Kerry and we've no chance.

Tyrone and Kerry can't meet until the final so it should have a familiar look.

A Cork v Kerry quarter final would be a cracking draw if it was to happen and would possibly present Cork with their best chance ever of beating their near rivals in Croke Park seeing that Kerry are without Galvin and Tomas O'Se for this game.

The semi final draw this year is Ulster v Connacht and Munster v Leinster so Tyrone and Kerry can't meet until the final possibly.

In that case I really want Cork to get Kerry in QF. I would hate to get through Rosc, beat Tyrone and lose to Kerry in final. Yes I know theres alot of ifs and buts involved but Cork really need to get Kerry in QF - Rosc would be a 'bad' draw I think even though they are the weakest of the provincial winners.
Cork V Tyrone would be an excellent QF - for Kerry!

    An Dun abu!

    Roscommon or Meath please

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,349 ✭✭✭✭starlit

not likeing those possible draw outcomes for kerry. :( think gaa footballers might need to consider helmets! well with all the head bashing and fouling lately the past couple of matches! talk about all the yellow cards in limerick v cork match was something else. maybe a few hurling sticks might be in order for a few players!:P won't mention which ones though! :pac: remain anon!

    Up The Dubs

What about the Dublin goal that was pulled back for a free or the 3 meath goals being very very disputable, 12 point swing. . ;)

That said, Meath firmly deserved the win and I wouldnt bet my house on Dublin beating anybody other then Roscommon in the Quarters. They are at best ok and about as good as last year. They work alot harder for each other, have substitutes that actually contribute when brought on and they shown a bit more fight about them in the Qualifiers. I think getting to the Quarters has been a bonus as Gillers is trying to change alot of things about the team and bring in fresh faces.

I would fancy a pop at Meath (there is not 8 points between the teams), if nothing else just to balance up the scores and to stop the texts from that annoying meath friend I hadnt heard from in 3 years until that game ! ! ! Who says Dub fans are'nt gracious in victory . .

I think the Dubs will get Kerry in the 1/4

    Everyone looking for Meath... :pac:

That game against Louth will be a wake up call for all the lads

Its Meath against the country now, the way it used to be and just the way we like it :D

Would love to meet the dubs again, another few goals to settle the lads for the semis,

A team I dont wanna meet would be Kildare, if Doyle strats putting them frees over they'll be a hard team for anone to beat

    This will be the draw
    Roscommon v Cork
    Kerry v Dublin
    Tyrone v Kildare
    Meath v Down
Can just see the Cork footballers getting the draw to allow them recover from last night's poor showing.

    Dublin please.

Came up with these possible draws from a game I played not from guessing (will do that after this list)

    Game (more likely possibilities)
    Kerry V Kildare
    Dublin V Cork
    Tyrone V Down
    Meath V Roscommon

    Guessing Possibilities:
    Kerry V Either Dubin/Cork/Tyrone
    Dublin V Either Kerry/Kildare/Meath/Cork/Tyrone
    Kildare V Either Dublin/Meath
    Tyrone V Either Dublin/Down/Cork/Kildare/Kerry
    Meath V Either Dublin/Kildare/Kerry
    Down V Either Kildare/Tyrone
    Roscommon V Either Kerry/Meath
    Cork V Either Dublin/Kerry/Roscommon/Tyrone

    Down V Either Kildare/Tyrone
    Roscommon V Either Kerry/Meath

A lot of them can't possibly happen (as discussed already on this thread) so it's back to the drawing board I'm afraid.

Dublin can't meet Cork and Meath can't play Roscommon at this stage. Provincial winners can't play one another in the Q-finals.

    Yes

Pot one will have kerry, Tyrone, Roscommon and Meath

Pot two will have Cork, Dublin, Kildare and Down

    Kildare V Either Dublin/Meath
    Tyrone V Either Dublin/Down/Cork/Kildare/Kerry

    Down V Either Kildare/Tyrone
    Roscommon V Either Kerry/Meath
    Cork V Either Dublin/Kerry/Roscommon/Tyrone

God the backdoor system really is sooooo stupid.. There's got to be a better way to give the teams two matches a year..

    Yes

    ah I see now.

    I'd predict so that:

Kerry meet either cork or dublin but hopefully it be kildare
Tyrone meet either dublin or kildare hope it be cork
Dublin meet either kerry or tyrone hope its meath
Roscommon meet kildare or down hope its down
Meath meet dublin or kildare hope its cork
Kildare meet tyrone or dublin hope its meath
Cork meet either kerry or dublin hope its tyrone
Down meet tyrone or meath hope its tyrone

Waiting too, why in gods name are they showing the dublin match again, if they showed on the sunday game tonight too, its a joke!

Being from Kildare id be hoping for roscommon/meath. Tyrone/Kerry would be a massive test.3rd year in a row we're in the quarter finals, hope to go at least 1 step further!

Who do Meath/Kerry/Roscommon/Tyrone want to avoid out of interest??
