    right, Im able to do quite a bit but its always annoyed me. How do I stop the pop up explanation of what things do when the cursor hovers over say a menu? fedora at the moment but an ubuntu explanation could help too as ubuntus not kde

    In order to disable tooltips in Ubuntu you need to
    1. Enable The Configuration editor
      Click on the Ubuntu logo and "Edit Menus"
      Go to System Tools and check box for "Configuration Editor"
    2. Disable tooltips
      Run Apps>SystemTools>Configuration Editor
      Navigate to apps>panel>global in the nav pane on the left
      Uncheck "tooltips_enabled"

    Simples ;)
