    hi,

quick check these little beauties aren't too high in any bad sh*t - we are keeping carbs low but I sometimes do like to treat ourselves with more healthy bad stuff :)

    125gsm oats
    100gsm flour ( I only had white I'm afraid )
    1 cup milk
    1\4 cup olive oil
    1 tablespoon baking powder
    some blueberries
    some dried apricots chopped
    1/3 cup xylitol

thanks in advance for your opinions

    rob

when did I say that ? I said we are trying to keep our consumption low.

are these very high ? I presumed with oats and not using sugar they were ok ?

125gms oats have about 70is gms carbs, 100gms white flour wont be miles off that either, milk about 4gms per 100mls and dried apricots are about 60gms carbs per 100gms

From your other thread the impression I received was that you were low-carbing. This basically means no baked goods (breads, muffins etc.) and certainly no white flour!!

I personally have no problems with complex carbohydrates and both oats and apricots would fall into that category. I eat them both regularly.

However if you are trying to low-carb then your body will not be going into ketosis with that amount of carbohydrates. Personally I don't think that's a bad thing...but you should at least be well-up on what you think it is you are doing diet-wise!

thanks for your comments - on the other thread I wrote that I didn't get from the article that carbs were totally necessary. I didn't say I don't eat them at all I don't think, because thats not true.

as for low carbing and ketosis - not unlike yourself I believe complex carbs are ok - what I mean by low carbing is - is low cheap carbs.

as with anything else in life a little bit of everything is ok in moderation imo.

Sincere apologies RobAMerc, I confused you with the OP of the other thread - StinkerOtinker. Sorry about that - I made the mistake of thinking you had started that thread! I really do apologise for confusing you!

If I added Spelt instead of White Flour would I need to change or add anything else?

to make them healthier or to make them work?

either way to be honest I can't give you and answer - but I would say if its healthier certainly try it, I cannot imagine it would ruin them.

none of us like failure but its no huge loss if it doesn't work!

Whole host of alternatives to white flour. Alomond flour/spelt/buckwheat flour/coconut flour/wholewheat flour.
