Rage Against The Machine, you gotta have them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭rcaz

    Radiohead
    The Flaming Lips
    Deerhoof
    Aphex Twin
    Autechre
    Del Tha Funkee Homosapien
    Super Furry Animals
    Venetian Snares
    Common
    De La Soul
    Outkast
    Kraftwerk
    Bruce Springsteen

And, I've always had this idea that if I was in charge of a festival, I'd have a proper savage orchestra playing, except they'd be on a stage, with a massive PA and lights and smoke and the full rock band treatment, and instead of sitting in silence in a concert hall, you'd be standing and drinking beer and cheering between movements. For it to work, you'd have to cultivate some sort of respectful environment, where you don't cheer during the music (that'd COMPLETELY ruin the impact of the music), but not in a snooty upper class indignance way. You want to hear the tunes!

    Also, the orchestra would be playing good romantic/modern music. Things I'd have on the bill;
Stravinsky's The Firebird/The Rite of Spring
    Górecki's 3rd Symphony
    Reich's City Life
Bartok's Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta
Pärt's Cantus In Memory of Benjamin Britten
    Xenakis' Metastasis B
    Ligeti's Cello Concerto/Atmosphéres
    Debussy's Nocturnes

Also, maybe The Flaming Lips could play The Soft Bulletin the whole way through with live orchestra as part of their set... :)

I'd buy a ticket right now if i was guaranteed no one mentioned since my last post on this thread would be playing. Although i'd miss Rubber Bandits i feel overall it'd be worth it.

I'd go to Pr0n's show, though I have to wonder what kind of reception the likes of Autechre would get at Oxygen.

    Foals
    Mumford & Sons
Fred (Good Irish music? Not at Oxe2010? It's blasphemy!)
Enemies or The Redneck Manifesto (they both make the same type of music really :P still, more Irish bands that deserve to be there)
    Franz Ferdinand
    Modest Mouse
The Raconteurs (or, just get back to recording, damnit. Dead Weather isn't that great)
    Florence And The Machine
Gorillaz (but please make this better than the Glastonbury stuff :|)
    Arcade Fire
    The Chemical Brothers
    Daft Punk
    Justice
    Phoenix
    Two Door Cinema Club
    Rodrigo y Gabriela
Hypnotic Brass Ensemble (I missed a show they did in Kinsale, people I know who went said it was amazing)
Muse (Sure, their live stuff is overrated. Still want to see them.)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,132 ✭✭✭Just Like Heaven

The Script are going to get a criminally high spot this year i think, and the only thing worse than that is the kings of leon playing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 herewego

    Main

    Radiohead
    The Strokes
    Queens of the Stone Age
    The Libertines
Arcade Fire (again) or RHCP or both
    Arctic Monkeys

    Other Big Stages (Vodafone /Heiniken)

    Mumford and Sons
    Sigur Ros
    Bon Iver
    Daft Punk
    Pendulum
    Morrisey ( maybe a Smiths comeback )
    Kraftwerk
    The Raconteurs
    Rodrigo y Gabriela

Throw in a few Irish acts like The Villagers, Lisa Hannigan, Damien Rice and James Vincent Mc Morrow. Sorted

Unfortunately though it will be The Script, Puffy Diddily Do and some one from Xfactor.

i highly doubt that daft punk will play anywere but the main stage !!!! they are well to big for any other stage ,

With the Kings of leon and the Script both counted out, i'm already completely happy. For me the Foo fighters is meh. But the fact that neither the script or kings of leon will be playing, means that money will be spent well and i am already ready to fork out for the early bird. :)

Why would Goo Goo Dolls,Paramore,The Kaiser Chiefs, The Script and Kesha get on the main stage while headline acts like Coldplay, Kings of Leon and The Killers slum it out on the smaller stages?

If only you took out the Paul bit and put Parks at the end. Then there's a chance I might go to that bin of a festival.
