This place LITERALLY does the best breakfast rolls in the world.
Unless you go back you'll never have the same experience in a breakfast roll again.

    Their cakes look good too.

It's Elite Confectionery. It's a bakery / cafe. They do lovely cakes.

It's approximately opposite the pharmacy on Main Street.

It's situated between Caulfields and the pet shop.

Fantastic value as well, I got a whopper big breakfast roll and a pot of tea(about 4 cups) for 4.50. YUM!

Savage. I'll give it a try on Tuesday......and report back here.

Have partaken of some of their fine cake during the many childish princess themed birthday parties held in my apartment over the last two years, they make quite shexy cake.

Another memory from the past year: I was having tea with a friend in the Elite and went up to the counter to ask for more milk. The lovely lady behind the counter gratefully gave me a full jug, before saying to me "I love your t-shirt"(I was wearing an orange M&M t-shirt).

    Great customer service! :D

    Coffee Slices = deadly.

Also, the staff are lovely :D
They have remarkably excellent memories. Which is fantastic if you're a regular!

I've lived in Maynooth for 11 years now and never been in there... this thread is wanting me to rectify that :P

Didn't make it to Elite this time but went for the old reliable breakfast roll instead. Got a gorgeous one in the Londis beside the bus stop on main street for €3 with a free bottle of water. They have gained my business for the next two years or more. That's the kind of value that ensures customer loyalty. I walked past the bagel factory on the way into college with my roll and water and saw bagels with cheese and ham etc. for over €4. Piss off!

Wasn't the Elite shut down for a time a couple of years ago for health and safety reasons?

    I could be wrong, mind.

Googled the Elite to see if they were ever shut down for health and Safety reasons. I live in the town and heard rumours but nothing substantial.

    Coffee Slices = deadly.

Totally agreed. I bought five once to share at lunch and ended up eating most of them throughout the day.

I will make sure to pay a visit during Freshers' week as I'll need a good hangover feed!

Good on ya! It is IMPERATIVE that you go there, you don't know what you're missing! Just think, if you graduate without ever going there you'll be like, "damn, I should have gone to Elite once in a while!"

Who's going to post the potato salad to Indonesia?

    I'LL BAN ANYONE WHO REFUSES!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 138 ✭✭CFC1905_NK

I would if I knew the recipe! Plus it doesn't seem so logistical, given the salad might go off in transit

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,878 ✭✭✭Rozabeez

It's probably less likely to poison me than the street food here anyway! Cmooooon! Actually, someone stuck 'Farmer Potato' in Indonesian on my chair last week because I'm Irish. Maybe I'll make my own...

Went yesterday on the recommendations of boardsies....

Got a chicken salad sandwich and a slice of cheesecake for €5, and the slice was more a chunk. It was LITERALLY a 1/4 of the cake.

    Nomnomnom. Definitely will be returning.

    Hey guys,
Just letting u know The Elite,Maynooth has set up a Facebook page at the following link
    http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Maynooth-Ireland/Elite-Confectionary/137123372995524?ref=ts&__a=40&ajaxpipe=1

It's called Elite Confectionary on it! so if u have any comments or feedback for us you could put it up there and we can listen and learn :)

Thanks for the positive feedback! It's great to know that after 20 odd yrs the place can still deliver on the homemade cakes and food front in Maynooth!

We look forward to seeing all you regulars soon and please let any college or local friends know about us as we are aware everyone will be back to NUIM in the coming weeks and there is a gross lack of food services on campus!

P.S i remember your m&m tshirt and I did like it!:)
