I have a itouch, no need what so ever for one.

If the price was about the 300 region I would consider, maybe.

Bang and Olufson aren't on Apple's list. For Dublin, there's only the following:
    COMPU B
    111 GRAFTON STREET,
    D.2. - DUBLIN
    Tel. 00353 1 5079103

    PC WORLD
UNIT 14 LIFFEY VALLEY RETAIL PARK
    DUBLIN 22 - CLONDALKIN

    EXPERT ELECTRICAL ARNOTTS
    ARNOTTS DEPARTMENT STORE,
    12 HENRY STREET,
    D.1. - DUBLIN
    Tel. 01-8050596

    PC WORLD
    UNIT 13-15 JERVIS SHOPPING CENTRE
    D 1 - DUBLIN

    DIXONS TRAVEL
    RETAIL STREET, TERMINAL 1 AIRSIDE
    DUBLIN AIRPORT
    DUBLIN

    PC WORLD
    390B THE SQUARE
    D 24 - TALLAGHT

    CURRYS
    UNIT 402 THE BLANCHARDSTOWN CENTRE
    ROI - BLANCHARDSTOWN

    PC WORLD

I'm gonna wait and see if there's online orders. if not, I may give PC World a try.

I'm really surprised there isn't a pre-order facility on apple.com/ie considering the iPad will be in stores on Friday.

Can't really understand people buying an iPad. Surely just gte the iPhone (smaller) or just buy a proper laptop.

iPad is a bigger iPod Touch as far as I'm concerned. Sorry. And yes..I've used one. Mate got on in America... he hasn't been using it as much lately I noticed

Personally, I'm getting an iPad so I have something that is lightweight to use when travelling so I can upload photos onto it, use as an e-book reader and for checking emails, web surfing etc.

I don't have an iPhone or iPod Touch and the price of a netbook + kindle (or similiar) is the same range as an iPad. The iPad is lighter and less kit to carry around plus with a much better screen for viewing photos.

Who in their right mind would spend any extended time on an iPod touch browsing or watching videos etc. It's a bit like saying a portable tv is as good as a plasma.

Browsing is so much faster on the iPad than the iPod touch, the screen is better, the screen is more responsive.......... I could go on. I've had mine since May and a day hasn't gone by that I haven't used it. My iPod touch hasn't been used since I got the iPad.

It's up to the individual if they want to buy one or not, and I've no problem with people not wanting one or not even liking them. It does get tiring though reading comments that are incorrect and misleading.

Picked mine up in the states 15 weeks ago now, it's been probably the best thing I have bought. As someone who spends a lot of time in airports and on planes it's been a great way of passing time.

Sit in the lounge and use the wifi and while on the plane I watch either a tv show or movie I Downloaded.

Even my wife likes the thing and my 3 year old loves the kids apps. So all in all it fits nicely into our house.

i have an iphone, but when at college i have no computer. I'm getting one to fill the gap of a laptop and I'll teather it to my iphone with mywi.

One thing it's not is a big iPod touch and the amount of people who have used mine say this... My iPhone is now used for making calls and texting while at home where as 15 weeks ago you couldn't get it out of my hand now it sits on the island in the kitchen when I get home.

The more people over the next few weeks who get their hands on one will end up buying one.

For me the only thing it shares with the iPod touch is the iPod part after that they are chalk and cheese.

Below are details of the status of IPad in the 7 PC World and Currys locations that are selling IPad from 08.00 this morning.
    Stockists
Dublin - PC World Jervis, Currys & PC World Blanchardstown, PC World Liffey Valley, PC World Carrickmines, PC World Tallaght ( The Square )Dixons Travel Dublin Airport
    Galway - Currys Headford Road

    Stocks
These are better than expected. All stores will have in excess of 10 of each unit outlined below and in some cases more. It really is impossible to say how long stocks will last as this depends on demand during the morning and day today. As things stand we have queues outside all our stores but we're talking 10-20 people, not hundreds. So we're feeling comfortable that we have enough stock to serve today for certain. I will answer all queries and update throughout the day, especially for people who are setting out from outside Dublin. We won't take pre-orders or put stock to one side but I'll try to give you pretty decent certainty if you're planning a long journey. What's for certain is that, once the launch batch is gone, ongoing supply will be sporadic. I'll be updating on the move and Sarah in our office will also be updating boards. You can follow her on Twitter also.

    Range and Prices
    16GB Wi-Fi: €499
    32GB Wi-Fi: €599

    32GB Wi-Fi and 3G: €699

    Not exactly a stampede...
To be honest, with radio reports from so called technology experts saying "It's just a big iPhone" isn't helping either.

Seems to be a lot of people that think they a pile of shíte...and an awful lot of uneducated assumptions being made regarding what they can or can't do!

I love mine om nom nom :P

Got mine at 8am in The Square, was the first to buy one and got a photo taken for head office :D
There was only a small queue of about 10 people and they said they had a good few in stock.

Einstein, nice device, but I loathe the idea of having to go through or depend on iTunes, long time user of it, for years, loathe it now.

Lack of an internal card slot is not acceptable to me. Having to 'fiddle' to get any kind of rather ropey Flash support is also an issue.

Lovely device, very vibrant screen, but several issues, that some people, myself included, can't overlook.

Oh yea, totally agree with you regarding the fact that it doesn't do what some people think it should! But like *everything* it's personal choice.

Theres a number of features that I can use it for...sheet music for example...no longer have i to worry about balancing a big thick book, or a stack of pages on a music stand...already have 100's on the iPad and works a treat along with instructional vids etc.
Also, able to export powerpoint presentations and have em work through the iPad via VGA connector to projector and boom...there it is :), with 5 times the battery life compareed to my laptopn.

Have no particular desire to really use the internet on it or anything or email, they're just bonuses!

Did ya see that statement Jobs made about flash? He came across as a bit of a muppet at times, but made some fairly good points too!

The reports on Keynote presentations are not good. Very limited fonts, can be squiffy moving Keynote presentations across to iPad as the formatting can go awry, worse again if its Powerpoint to Keynote to iPad. Its the main reason I'm not getting one yet. I do training and have a projector the size of 5 CD cases, so the iPad would have been a brilliant fit. MacFormat did a review of the iWork apps for iPad last month, and they are usually very thorough.

I was only in the que for less than 10 mins thank god I got there for the opening if there was only 10 of each model. Already had a mi-fi so no need to get 3G so 32GB it's soo good I mean the flash issue you don't notice for me yet. I mean YouTube embeds work fine on sites some adverts from adsense popped up. In Liffey shopping centre ATM no one notices me typing on it because I have the case. It's really fast installing apps don't take a million hours to install thank god. They allowed video recording so I kept pointing the camera at the guy he was serving me haha. They had a ****ing Ikea jonas desk as a pre order area and I got number 15 tag. Did anyone see me I was so excited haha I was like I don't need the foot rests or arm rests so FYI they were in the car I didn't lose them. Missed getting my photo by 4 seconds. Helped a couple pick up a 3G iPad they wanted to use it where ever they went and I assumed they had no mifi so. Think they went 16Gb which is fine for most but since I got 100gb of tv I went 32gb. Couldn't afford 64gb :(
