I was in Superquinn today, the only place left that sold Kandee Ketchup. But
I was shocked when I went to the shelf and the place where it normally is and noticed it was gone!! Even the label was taken down and it was replaced with some organic sauce??

Basically doe anyone know if Kandee is out of business or does anyone know any other place I can buy it??

    I've just noticed this myself.

The bottles are so big we haven't needed any in a while, but I've noticed it's no longer stocked anywhere I do my shopping. I cant go back to any other sauce, they all taste like crap compared to Kandee.

What's going on? I'm scared and my chips are without sweet tomato ketchup.

Just add a cup of water and a few spoons of sugar to another bottle of ketchup and you'll have your lovely manky bottle of Kandee "ketchup"!!

actually I think kandee might have more tomatoes in it than chef or heinz. A few own brand ones have more tomatoes too. Kandee is very vinegary and that is what many people like, you can just add more vinegar to other ketchups, they go more runny which I like on chips.

They are 1kg bottles, usually a good bit cheaper per kilo.

Oh I hate it. I grew up in a big family, and there was always about three different bottles of ketchup on the go- the little ones liked Kandee, I ate Chef sauce and two of my siblings loved Daddie's Sauce.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,206 ✭✭✭✭amiable

I can confirm i saw a 1kg bottle of Kandee in supervalu earlier for 1.75

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 213 ✭✭Kerikosan

It is very vinegary but some ppl love that =)

I'll have kandee or chef or Heinz any day im not fussy :D

Kandee is the Harp Lager of ketchups.

And there are stacks of it still to be had...

    Kandee_2.jpg

Wholesale price €9.45 + VAT. :pac:

Remember being a child and being disgusted by Heinz' lack of homogeneity, reaching for Kandee in preference. I struggle to remember what their brown sauce was like.

Thanks for shoving your opinion down our throats. That sounds just like chef btw, except you might need a few litres of malt vinegar too.

is Kandee gone from Dunnes now ?
Went to Dunnes in Clondalkin and I didn't even see an empty space suggesting they'll refill it.
I wonder if anyone seen it in other Dunnes Stores branches ?

Eurospars seem to stock it in their 'Bargain Zone' bit of the store next to their own-brand stuff etc.

Haven't had Kandee in years but as I remember it was the absolute business on frozen chips, never worked as well with home cooked for some reason, when I was a lad my ma would only very rarely cave into my requests to buy it, so vinegary mmm, reminds me of chipper vans at big matches,

Don't think I'd want my own kids getting a taste for it though, I guess my mam loves me after all???

It's awful stuff. Just vinegary gloop! I haven't had it in years, but the memory is as disgusting as ever.

more like who puts ketchup on spag bol!

Onions are in many ketchups, I am always looking at ingredients lists and love my ketchups. Does no appear on heinz ireland label but does in the US, could be in amongst vague "spices" here.

fair point well made - I used to have Ragu on me spagbol but it gave me indigestion so i just use tomato ketchup and cheese now on me mince
