    MAYO

If it was just castlebar that you visited then I totally understand why you would think that. One of the most depressing places I have ever had the misfortune of living in.

So many lovely places in the county though. Westport obviously comes to mind. Probably the most beautiful town in the country, second only to Clonakilty imo.
Mulranny is a gorgeous spot too, as well as the nearby Achill Island.

Come back and give it another chance. ;)

It really makes me mad when people say they hate a town/city/county etc.
You can't hate somewhere just because you had a few bad experiences or heard of bad things about a place.
for eg. Dublin is nearly 1000 kilometres squared- surely you could find something you love about it:confused:
1 million living there too, surely you'd find a friend!!:D

    P.S. I'm not from dublin:pac:

I don't know. When you're in the middle of nowhere, it's hard to tell where one ends and another begins.

I'd love to visit The Shire someday... Near Carlow I think.

Donegal is the only one missing in my list, so 34/35 for me for Ireland the island. Or 28/29, if you only count Ireland the state.

Is this counting Dublin as four separate counties instead of one? That's a bit naff. As long as they drive D-registered cars and field one team in national competitions I wouldn't go so far as to recognise Fingal, DLR, Tallaght & Pals and the city proper as different counties.
I went to all 32 in a little over 19 years. Started out in Dublin (Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, in case Pherekydes is wondering), I've spent the majority of my time in Meath, and Kerry was the last one I visited, around Christmas 2006.

Haha! Sorry, but it's definitly not! There are good things about Dublin, surely. But I'm afraid it's a case of far too many con's against the pro's! I know loads of people from Dublin (sure Cavan is now infested with yis for feck sake) and I'm friends with many of with I know from School, College, and people I met about, but I'm sorry to say there's more arseholes than not out of the countless people I met from the county.

That's not to say you're all arseholes, just most of you! :p [it's only a ****stirrer - take that last one with a pinch of salt]

Beautiful part of the world, and home to Ireland's best music festival, the Rory Gallagher festival in June (free), held in Rory's home town of Ballyshannon.

Yes, and sane Irish people deem them to be single unified counties, regardless of their administrative divisions. Pherekydes seems to suggest local government units should translate into counties. Ask someone from Blanchardstown what part of the country they're from, I doubt they'll say Fingal but I'm open to correction.
