that would be like taking all the addons to TF2 next week and telling people they need to pay $30 each to keep using it all.

Well there is a weapons pack due in the next few weeks (the Polycount competition) but no word on the exact date.

Alien Storm is out around 8pm, it has 3 hours to go right now. how many players online at a time do you think?? Think I remember 4-per game in the original.

Considering they opened the game code and are delivering it free to the masses?

The stock might be 4 but I wouldn't be surprised if it was supporting a lot more than that within a few weeks. TF2 is balanced for 24 but has been commonly played at 32 since launch. And I've seen excess of 40 in a CSS match.

but its an atmospheric, team-survival game. I like it. my only complaint is i want more bullets...... which is kinda the point :pac:

I gave it a shot earlier and it's pretty good. I had the sentry good set up on the elevator and it was really like that scene in Aliens where you're watching the ammo deplete as teh aliens keep coming. :d

Didn't stop at 10 though.

Game is fun, was playing it with 2 friends over vent and communication is really needed or you'll be running into each others line of fire all the time.

Played it for about 30 minutes and it seems good! However, I've found it difficult to connect to games - maybe 1 in 5 connects.

LoL. Steam folder is 51GB's atm. May be able to make room if I look through the Windows.old dir, and see if I have anything installed elsewhere, as the game does look fun.

I would imagine that your system's performance is being adversely effected. I'd recommend installing CCleaner. It's a great little program that should clear some space and also delete some loose ends in your registry.

Nah. They were from the beta of Windows 7. When I installed the one I bought, it just renamed the folder to Windows.old and threw everything (Program Files, WINNT, etc) into it. I still use some programs in it, so I'll leave it there.

Actually, I think it goes into slow-mo at the start of the elevator level. And I also realised you can shoot the aliens as they climb up the shaft, which was a pretty cool touch.

suffers a bit from the l4d matchmaking, so use the console (enable developer console under keyboard settings), and use 'openserverbrowser' as the command to open ye ole faithful server browser

Yeah, from what I gather (and I've only played it a little) the game briefly modulates in speed at various points - specifically really difficult bits. I've seen it happen on two maps, I believe.

It's a nice touch.

i havent had a chance to play since monday am i wrong in thinking its top-down l4d or have i not played enough yet.

I'd be more interested in Survival-Mode here. Like the mission Desperate Alliance mission in Starcraft (hold out for 30 mins).

I must say, for a free game, it's pretty damn good - finished the campaign earlier on Normal (would've had it last night apart from some weird pathing glitch which got a squad member stuck behind a pillar :mad:). So far, the Residential Complex is probably my favourite map ^^

So far, I'm growing very fond of the Assault Rifle with a Flamer as backup and Hornets as my third item - Flamer seems a tad overpowered (although, that could just be an issue with Normal difficulty) since a horde of the more common Swarm can be destroyed without using a lot of ammo. Freeze grenades are pretty fun too

finished the campaign today on normal and upset that theres not more

anxious to see if Valve plans to release more campaigns or if they are just leaving it up to the community. Either way I don't know what their angle is.... except to probably give their employees a nice platform to promote their in-house mod

if they decide after this to release a fully fledged purchase-version I'd be all about it.
