What's with the Dharma gear? I'm thinking either Hurley and Ben have gone back to 1977 or there is a Dharma Station that was never discovered by the Losties nad maybe Ben is put in charge of getting rid of any trace of the DI from the island.

    I dunno, cant wait tho

Cool pic. I was (eventually) very satisfied with The End but I am looking forward to a few more answers.
Isn't Walt supposed to be it as well?

sure how many answers can we get in 12 mins, i'd like to see how hurley and ben made their demise

Not a lot can be done in 12 mins. hopefully it will give us some sense of how the story panned out.

I have a feeling/hope since its only 12min long it will be too light hearted to feature Ben's and Hurley's deaths and they better not even try and tell their whole story, just a sense of how they worked together as a partnership and the friendship hinted at in the finale would be nice. And I don't think there is many 'answers' left to give, perhaps just some much-needed Dharma stuff.

However what I really hope they do is make one explaining what happened to those who escaped on Arija 316. What possible story could they come up with for the authorities? A plane is lost at sea that just so happens to have five of the Oceanic 6 on board, one of whom suspiciously bought up all the remaining seats before taking off. Then a few days later it miraculously reappears but with only one of the crew (who was meant to be on Oceanic 815) and only one of the original passengers. But also on board are a physic detective, another guy with no known identity but who appears to be wearing eye-liner and most amazingly two of those supposedly killed on Oceanic 815 . Not only that but Kate will supposedly give custody of her kid to Claire. The media scrum would be immense and never-ending. I'm pretty sure even Sawyer couldn't come up with something to get them out of that one.

Why do i fear it will be like star wars III at the end where Luke and Leia are being born and they throw loads of info into the last 30 seconds about who they are and who everyone was. (sorry i hate star wars and only seen this movie once but its all i remember)

I think this sums up better than anything I've read why the end of Lost was so unsatisfactory. Yes, it was a good end for season 6, but it left so many gaping holes from earlier seasons and the post by Uncle Oswald shows the absurdity of the story of those who did escape the island. Of course this all could be dealt with by Hurley and Ben walking on the beach and finding plane wreckage and Hurley saying "Dude, I guess no-one made it off the island" but that still would leave the story of how come so many of the Oceanic 815 passangers were on Arija 316 when it went down.

Well when you think about it, quite a lot can be done in 12 minutes. What about the last 12 or so minutes of "The End", how much was revealed to us in that short time eh?? Or how about the very first 12 minutes of The Pilot??
I think some people wont appreciate this either way, I mean they didnt have to give us this extra scene but they did and i am personally looking forward to it.

There's only three things I can really see it attempting to answer: Walt, the Hurly Bird and the food drops. And maybe a few other stupid things that the writers didn't care about but the fans were always annoying them about.

Tbh I really couldn't care less what Ben and Hurley got up to post-finale. Despite any answers given, I suspect this "epilogue" will be like the mobisodes, i.e. pointless.

I would imagine that it won't answer anything, it'll just be a bit of entertainment. Maybe it'll introduce a new question and answer that, but I don't think it'll answer anything from Lost, at least nothing that would be considered important!

Yes, it will be answering things from Lost, seeing as it IS Lost. ;)
Can't find the link atm, but from what I remember reading it will address
the pallet drops, something about Walt, Ben will be closing down DHARMA stations and a few other things.

Ps: Are people still going on about the Hurley bird... seriously?

General vibe that's coming out regarding the epilogue: Spoiler:
It is definately not a light-hearted vignette. It contains some meaty scenes with Ben, Hurley, Walt and Locke. Very wordy by all accounts so probably a fair amount jammed into the 12 minutes. Delighted the real Locke is getting a swan song.

"I'm here to tie up a few loose ends" I love it. Can't think of another show that made so many nods towards it's audience.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,267 ✭✭✭opr

12 minute epilogue is up on a few places online.
This is the footage deleted from the broadcast of the finale that details life on the island for Hurley and Ben after Hurley becomes "the new Jacob".

Tied up a few loose ends but not sure there was much need for it. Just made me miss the show more :)

Just watched it. Pretty much what I expected.

    The pallet drops - check
The polar bears (again, for all the slow people) - check
The "Hurley Bird" (cause that was so important, right?) - check
The pregnancy issues (who cares?) - check
Room 23 (um, whatever) - check
    Walt - check

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,053 ✭✭✭Aldebaran

Yeah, it was a big pile of meh. Had to laugh at the two guys at the start demanding answers though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 430 ✭✭NicoleL88

In a way I think it's hilarious. Those two guys represented all the whinging fans who didn't get "all the answers" in the finale. And when they got them, they still had more questions. The series ended perfectly, we're intelligent enough to draw our own conclusions and this epilogue proves that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 188 ✭✭filmfan

I really didn't like this, and I loved Lost but the ending and the epilogue just didn't do it for me at all. A real pity cause I watched every episode and loved the premise of the show

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 254 ✭✭BeardyFunzo

Rubbish. I'd like my 12 minutes back please.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 188 ✭✭filmfan

The epilogue had so much potential, this really missed in the mark in my opinion. I'm glad if some viewers enjoy it but this just got me frustrated all over again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,194 ✭✭✭✭Basq

I was gonna watch it until I read the consensus here..

    .. don't think I'll bother now!

I prefer my final image of 'Lost' to be of Dr Jack Shepherd's eye closing next to a faithful Yellow Labrador, rather than sullied by a "cash-cow epilogue" to boost DVD sales (not that they'd need it)! :(

Yeah this. I don't think it's as horrible as people are making out but it was a case of getting in as many answers as was possible in 12 minutes.

yeah it was fine. Happy for Walt.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 188 ✭✭filmfan

Unfortunately it comes across as a desperate attempt as getting as much into 12 minutes as possible to try and appease a lot of fans who were satisfied with the final season. I expected some nice montage of Hurley and Ben working together over the years on the beach and stuff but this is just silly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

I thought it was fine.... actually I was pretty surprised they gave a definitive answer to the pregnancy issues. That was a pretty big reveal imo considering it was a big part of the first 3 seasons.

Also I was pretty happy with the Walt scene.

Overall I took it more as a little fun then anything else. One thing I actually can't believe though.. How people were ever bothered about that bird! Seriously, a bird

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 408 ✭✭blue_steel

Enjoyable enough I suppose. I still miss Dharma. It really was a great concept and the soul of the show.

this was footage not used in the finale.... the future of the island under Hurley wouldn't have worked in The End, and inevitably would have left people shouting more answers at their tv. I enjoyed it for what it was, which wasn't much.

I don't think so. I think they knew all along this was going to be on S6 boxset and not in main show.

I know what you mean about the bird but its kind of systematic for all the other 'big' questions that 'fans' demanded answers to because in the end it really doesn't matter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 408 ✭✭blue_steel

It was so typical of LOST that the two questions asked by the Dharma guys were things we already knew the answers to :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 430 ✭✭NicoleL88

Jasus lads ye're terribly bitter. It wasn't great, but it's still Lost. If ye're so huffy about the DVD then guess what, ye don't have to buy it, because ye've already seen the epilogue!

Thats a very presumptious or elitist fanboy attitude to have. Just because its LOST doesnt mean its great. Even my favourite food, films, programmes, women and colour have their own fallacies, yet I know this but still appreciate it.

But this was just pure rubbish I wouldnt actually be surprised if this was Michael Emersons idea.

    It's actually fan-woman, but whatever. ;)

Of course Lost has its flaws, but I'm sick of seeing people say "Oh this was utter ****" just because it didn't give ALL the answers. You'd swear this generation was too thick to think for themselves and to be able to come up with their own informed conclusions based on the information we've already been given.

Sure the epilogue wasn't great but seems these days no one is ever satisfied.

Edit: Just to add, I hope that people thought it was ****e because they alread knew these answers, and not because they expected answers to bigger "mysteries". I feel really bad for the poor folks who got pissed off because they assumed the finale would be about answering things, and totally missing the point of the show.

Fan-woman!! haha... well your right in separating the 2 factions.

I wasnt pissed off because it didn't answers some things I was pissed off because it was answering stupid questions and it was just absolute shi*t haha

I had all the seasons on my computer and I re watched everything before the last season in anticipation of the the final season being written well and entertaining but I was very disappointed with it and that concludes my opinion of the whole series on it and would never recommend anyone to watch it.

I have since deleted everything lost related off my computer and have no intention of watching anything lost related again.

Yet you still post to the Lost message board.

And the question has to be asked, did you enjoy it when you watched all the episodes before the last season? If so, then what are you complaining about? And if not, then why did you keep watching something you weren't enjoying?

Thought it was waste of time . It all seemed very rushed & last minute to me. Nothing of significance answered. We already knew how the polar bear with the collar got to the desert.

I haven't watched the epilogue yet but Michael Emerson was quoted saying it sets up a Lost spinoff, which I was guessing would happen.

All somebody has to do is hire Jorge Garcia and Emerson and they have some form of a Spinoff. I don't think it is a matter of "if", I think it is a matter of "when".

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 430 ✭✭NicoleL88

He was joking. There won't be any Lost spinoffs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,534 ✭✭✭Dman001

I don't think he is. To quote:

It does seem [like a spinoff]," he explained. "It leaves the door open that way

Lost is a franchise, which Disney owns. All they have to do is sell the rights and a Spinoff can be made.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 430 ✭✭NicoleL88

Several members of the cast have said things along these lines e.g. "Yeah I'd be open to a seventh season/movie/spinoff etc" They can't say "No way" because it would seem as if they don't want anything else to do with the show.

I guarantee you, there won't be any Lost spinoffs. ;)

A spinoff doesn't mean the same cast though. They could focus on the protector of the island after Hurley and Ben.

Apologies for going way off topic too.
