Use liquid chalk, much better than normal chalk.

really really disagree, ive used around 4 types of chalk,

chalk ball, eco chalk ball, liquid and chalk blocks
, oh and chalk powder, and the liquid was the worst by a mile.

My hands are red raw, especially during Coen...i've liquid and standard chalk, but nothing seems to work! + the aircon's not working in the gym...Total nightmare!

It's none too kind to your skin either, but is better than tearing skin or callouses IMHO. I wash it off as soon as I can. I made the mistake of leaving it on during cardio once, the skin on my hands was in bits afterwards.

    Edit:-

Maybe the Chalk balls I've used were just crap. What do you find is the best? TBH I've never had a problem since switching to liquid, but if there is something better I'd like to know.

I buy a tub of chalk in snow and rock, and chalk balls there, really like the stuff.

liquid makes my hand smell like petrol, and go all guey after a i re liquify my hands.

The stuff you get in 53deg North doesn't do that.

I will check that out, This stuff right?

Here is the stuff I use at the moment from Myprotein, it does smell like vodka until it dries, and dries really well after re-application (no goo).

These help at all from stopping the sweat going onto your palms

I am a sweatball myself and while grip is never a problem, I find when doing yoga I cant hold some of the positions because my hands slide all over the mat due to sweat.

Liquid chalk smells like vodka.. which is a terrible thing if you're regularly hungover! I prefer the chalk blocks from the great outdoors, 2 euro.

Cardio, just man up and lift the f*ckin thing

Yeah i had trouble deadlifting at the weekend. I was chalking up before every set and by the time i got to the bar my hands were sweating. I nearly lost the bar a few times..

Hot weather + no windows + broken aircon =

    I have this liquid chalk.

    http://www.peglers.co.uk/2_Beal-Pure-Grip-Liquid-Chalk.htm

Got in yesterday in a shop in cork. Just checked it there, couldnt get any smell off it and there was no mess trying to wash it off.

Although i havent had a chance to test it out properly in the gym yet.

You can get strong anti perspirants in chemists, drichlor and perspirex are 2 brands you get here, extremely strong, read instructions carefully as it can turn to sulphuric acid and burn your skin badly.

Just an overstated warning, if you bother to read the instructions you will be fine, it should not be but on cuts or rashes or when you are already sweating.

I actually tried to look for someone reputable wearing one but the best I could find were American Football quarter backs and Tennis players.

Just use straps, at least after you've done your top set.
