People in Dublin should take the train passing Broombridge then complain about the north.

about 12 minutes into the show another dublin mother asks why lurgan mammies were helping their children over the fence to stone the train, and were putting balaclavas on them

People should not trespass on railway lines

Some of them in time may qualify for the group submission of the Darwin awards.

Sorry, where in that article does it state that it was nationalists? It says it was hijacked by thugs. Thugs are thugs, regardless of their political persuasion.

A bitter attempt to turn an attack into a sectarian issue.

Who the **** takes a bunch of 8 year olds to Lurgan on the 12th of July?

Kids should be taken into care due to negligent parents

What sort of scout leader brings a load of 8 year old scouts from Dublin up to the north on the 12th of July?!

The mother of one also said the grown men where walking up and down the passenger carriages threatening the passengers. Turns out they never got into the passenger carriages.

Irish mammies in this country much prefer sensationalised gossip than truth.

I have little doubt in my mind that the 8 year old kids have more brains than any adult who participates in such actions.

To call this silly season in Northern Ireland is something of an understatement

On the glass half full side, there'll be a bit of return to the 12th July surge in holiday bookings next year, for those in the travel trade...

  • It's not that stupid to take a train on the 12th (the train wasn't TO Lurgan, it was passing through). I almost did it last year but didn't feel comfortable, but I didn't ACTUALLY think the train would be hijacked by yobs. It's appalling.

If they were trying to make it a sectarian issue they would of said catholics. They were nationalists in their uniform of celtic jerseys and balaclavas. RTE also said they tried to set the train on fire and stole luggage from the train. If they really want to be part of our country you would think they would have the cop on to try and muster up support from the Republic instead of attacking them. If you try to set fire to a car, a house or a train with people inside it you are not doing it for a laugh you are trying to murder them.

If this was a loyalist mob there would be outrage from the same people dismissing it

I think its so stupid the way people are going on about religion and if they were true catholics or protestants they wouldn't be doing this crap. Those churches have nothing to do with that crap. What started the troubles, when did it start? As why can't they just fix what started it.

Its a media way of labeling people. Its infrequent you hear 'nationalist/unionist' rioting. Last nights rioting was labelled as by 'nationalists' yet before it was always by 'republicans'!!

Were those kids on the train dressed in paramilitary uniform? lagitamate taargits, as they say up north :pac:

It is if you don't want to be associated or run into the sectarian marches. The train started out from Belfast and unless you live in a cave, that is where the biggest pile of sectarian **** is on the 12th. I have avoided travelling through NI at this time of year for a about a decade now.

It is appalling and the driver should have ran them over.

Scum are scum, no matter what colours they wear, allegiance they hold, or 'palidical crimes' they are charged with.

Belfast isn't where the trouble was here. Driving around the areas where the marches are being held, yeah, that's stupid, but you'd think you'd be safe enough on a bloody train. The train DOESN'T go past sectarian marches. You'd think the yobs would be too busy causing trouble in the towns, not hanging around a train track. I remember last year I decided to go down to Dublin on the 13th instead, I was a bit worried about going on the 12th and everyone told me I was silly.

Well generally you are, them sectarian losers wouldn't be on trains they probably couldn't afford them! Thats actually why alot of them are like that because they listen to their parents and don't goto school and get an education.

Have you ever been to Lurgan? Not much loyalist about that place, not as far as I know anyway. Most of my family live there, sh*thole it is, loyalist it's not. I thought the yobs who attacked the train were 'republicans' - I don't even understand what their motive was.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 852 ✭✭✭moonpurple

their motive? the unification of ireland, civil disruption until it occurs, 8 year old dublin cub scouts or not,

Why attack that train? I could see loyalists doing it because they don't want a 'fenian' train in their territory but I don't see the motivation for nationalists. I get that they just want to cause mayhem but I'm surprised at the target.

Sorry this has nothing to do with loyalists they aren't in lurgan and it was republicans that did this not nationalists, the same way you think unionists are the same as loyalists, they are not!
