    Hi Everyone,

We're talking about getting the ents acts for next year and I realised I'm much to old to be sharing my opinions on who should be playing in Maynooth.

    So.......

Who would you like to see playing in Maynooth. (Keep it vaguely realistic? Please?)

    Much Love,
    AE

The Saw Docs are always good for a laugh I think and maybe try and get the Republic of Loose again? They're so good!

Messiah J and The Expert were the best act I've seen in the two years I was here. They were on the week after Freshers last year. I went to it with a lad that's into industrial music and even he said they were class. Pity hardly anyone turned up to it.

I think the Delorentos were on after them. They had their fan boys there but they paled in comparison to Messiah J. A lot of people should know a few of their songs anyway without realising it.

    Some great tracks altogether

    Nearly forgot their best

Mumford & Sons would be amazing :D Arcade Fire, Justice, The Coronas

Hmm, probably all out of reach but they would all be great. ;)

I second The Saw Doctors suggestion.
Saw them at Oxegen their new songs are amazing.

Emmm... Justice might be a shade out of reach!

Good ideas, we've got a few nice surprises already booked for freshers week. Thanks boardsies.

Some decent electronic acts or DJ's would be great to see, there's a serious lack of it in Maynooth tbh. Plus a lot of acts like Hot Chip, Foals etc also tour doing just DJ sets.

    Eliza Doolittle if possible:)

How class would that be? :D I'm having withdrawal symptoms due to lack of world cup.

Also, Two Door Cinema Club would be savage.

What level of entertainment can NUIM realistically expect to host?

Does realistic = Irish acts? If so, Enemies and Adebisi Shank? Rubber Bandits would go down really well.

No more indie shi-ite PLEASE!!! I haven't gone to an SU event.....ever!! And I'm here over six years - nothing but identikit bland indie drivel!!!! There are plenty of decent blues (SRV style) bands doing the rounds - wasn't there a regular rock night in O' Neills for a while?? Something....anything!!!!

    Does not compute :p

    *serious cap on*
Nobody's ever gonna agree on it though. I'm not a fan of generic indie bands that are all over the place, but a lot of people are, particularly the student demographic. I wouldn't go to see the blues bands that you'd like to have playing, just like you wouldn't go to see the indie bands. I probably wouldn't go to see the DJs that lots of people seem to want. But the indie bands and DJs would please the majority.

I'm sure if Enemies and Adebisi Shank (my suggestions) were on, a lot of other people wouldn't go either, but I figured the fact that they're Irish and actually independent would be an incentive to have them play.

Mick from Adebisi Shank is in the college so it should not be hard for him to give a few bands. All these bands are under the Richter Collective label or concerts are being promoted by them.

    Adebisi Shank
    the Cast of Cheers
    Redneck Manifesto
And so i watch you from afar
    BATS

    Aslo Heathers are attending maynooth.

The Frames too big yeah? Consider Messiah J and the Expert seconded. More electronia (ahem, pardon me, MOAR 3L3C7R0N1CA) would be great, as someone said Crystal Castles-esque stuff. If we're keeping it Irish maybe the Japanese Popstars (again, too big?).

Jack L. Puts on one of the best shows I've ever seen. Also Freddie White is good. Support the economy, buy Irish!

Why doesn't the Union have a blues night?
It would be great for mental health week....

A few themed nights in the union would be great,
in fact I haven't been to anything in the union since the casino night many many moons ago....
