you'll get the scuba stuff, the xxxy stuff, and a few others in all-city.

you won't get the burial/four tet record anywhere because it was a limited pressing.

If i was you I would get in touch with the All City lads and get put on the mailing list. The get in weekly orders for ST Holdings and other distro's...but they normally only order in what they need. Every Friday i get an email with what is coming in for the week, place my order and it's there on the following Thursday after lunch. They don't normally get in too many extra copies unless the tune is ****ing huge...and stuff that will have a limited pressing will always be hard for them to get in a lot of copies and it will normally get snapped up sharpish because from what i can tell us vultures descend on Thursday and Friday and clean them out.

What i can't get there I can normally get on chemical records, which i rate quite highly.

yeah us vultures do tend to go in for the kill on thursday and friday.

Pretty new to house/techno music, any suggestions on people I should check out? I've listened to stuff on the last few pages and liked most of it.

I'd go through everything on this thread Carl, seriously low (virtually no) amount of rubbish on here. Also check out the Hotflush, Ostgut Ton, R&S and Rush Hour labels to see what takes your fancy.

I'm not actually a big fan of this. Not up to his usual stuff I don't think.

Agreed, Make Um Bounce isn't great. I like This is It though.

    Love that Julio Bashmore record.

Lads - my knowledge of Dubstep is fairly limited, some tunes ive heard have been excellent others i haven't liked at all, i got some emails about this compilation wanted to get opinions on people who know about/are into Dubstep, to be honest the title alone is enough to put me off "100% Pure Dubstep" although ive never heard of this DJ Hatcha, opinions please.

Interesting to see that is FabricLIVE 56, i have Fabric 56 Derrick Carter (superb House mix) i actually didn't know that Fabic also has a "live mix" series as well this could be worth looking into.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,401 ✭✭✭jtsuited

wtf are we going to fight about if jonny starts liking ramadanman/pearson sound????

btw jonny, you'll find a lot of the good dubstep guys (ramadanmann/ben ufo/joy orbison/etc) play good older deep house (as opposed to the monotonous beatport drivel) too.

Hatcha has undeniable skill on the decks and used to be quite the taste maker on the scene, i guess he still is but i wouldn't really be into a lot of his selections lately. To be honest there are not too many songs on that i would rate either...some quality producers alright but i would consider nearly all of them to have better songs.

As already mentioned the recent Hotflush compilation is pretty much superb, if you want to start at the start of Dubstep you could do worse than to buy The Roots of Dubstep, still one of my favourite releases - http://boomkat.com/cds/23215-various-tempa-the-roots-of-dubstep

Also the new Rinse CD will be out soon, mixed by Youngsta...in my opinion his skill on the decks and selections can't be touched right now.

I wouldn't bother with that Hatcha mix tbh. One of the handful of founding DJs but his time has past.
Check his Allstars mix from 03 for what he became famous for. Thats one of best intros to the original sound you can get.

This isn't really a dubstep thread now so if you want to follow down the techno side of things thats in here, Appleblim's RA mix is still the one.
Then check the Peverelist's or the [nakedlunch] futureproofing
And Geiom's mix for Soul Motive.
