I'm not sure what you mean by "outside the top four"? (to the OP)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

    I'd be interested in this,

Like the fact that it will be teams outside the top 4 too.

Would it be last years top 4 or the big 4?

The 'Big Four' no longer exists.

Should be either 'Big Three' or last year's top four.

You just need to have your team in by the start of the season, site just opens today

wow, bargain defenders and keepers are hard to come by this year. prices are stupidly high to try and pick a team under 100m. Lampard is highest this year at 13m

They've increased players' minimum price to 4.0 without increasing the budget :(

    Hey all,

The official FA Premier league fantasy football is back! The boards.ie league code is as follows:
    1084-535

It will be a new league from last year, the league is not renewed. This is to encourage only Boards regulars to join up. Like last year the league code will be removed after a few weeks. The cut off date is set to 14th September to stop non boards members doing well in the game signing in and leapfrogging boards regulars. Good luck to all!

This league has been approved by the Boards.ie Communications Manager, Darragh

They were always 4m minimum. It just drops over the course of a season as people sell their benchwarmers

I see you can close a league to new entries after a certain date, you should've hit that.

I'm in, I think its going to be very important to try increase the squad value early on this year

Thats how I do it every year. Finished with in the top "most valuable teams" list for the past 3 years running and won all my private leagues. Usually weigh in over 2000 points each season. This 2nd wildcard should really help with this tactic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,584 ✭✭✭PCPhoto

im in - seems to be easier to pick a team without the top 4 (spurs, villa, man city... plenty to choose from - just need them all to play the same as last year.

Yeah I didn't really concentrate on it that much last year and suffered as a result, but definitely going to have to keep an eye on the "popular" players for the first few weeks. Definitely knowing you have a second wildcard should also help, but I wonder if people will use it wisely.

    Right lads,

Have set up two leagues. 1 normal and 1 without big 4 - ie Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal & Liverpool.

Will set entry @ 20 euro so if you want in send me pm and I'll give you the code and arrange payment. From discussions with mates and some boardsies, it's agreed that money must be paid by day before the season starts ( Friday 14th August ) - anyone not paid by then will be expelled. I had thought we could settle at end of season, but have heard some horror stories of bad debts

Anyone interested, just state which league you want into.

So best of luck, will advise of total pot and % for places prior to start date ( depending on entries ).

And don't worry about the payout, enough people on Boards.ie know where I live......or do they ;)

    PM sent.........:)

Here's some of the reclassifications ive spotted.

    - Kalou now a MF
    - Bale now an MF
    - Olsson now an MF
    - Moses now an MF (i think he was a FW last year)

    Any others?

Keane is fairly cheap btw but will he get his game...

What are the "tactics" for achieving this?

    Few questions :

Can unlimited free transfers be made before the start of the season?
Who will be the starting right back for Utd this season ?
Will John O'Shea be fit for the start?

Yep. No price change from last year so worth a spot in the squad at 6.5 mil.

I've decided to give him a whirl instead of David Dunn. Dunn's too injury prone but always scores points when he plays.

    thats "Mickolas Manelka's" boys picked.
lots of shuffling to be done yet.

It's that time of the year already? Wow.

Just picked a load of muck for the moment, will wait and see who all the chatter is about this year before picking my final team to start the year.

Gotta be careful picking defenders now though with that own goal penalty :(

Shawcross at 5.0 seems to be a good price considering his performances last year. Bonus machine and Stoke keep the odd cleany. Possibility of the odd goal as well.

Arteta at 8.5 is a good buy IF he can stay fit. He scores as well as any 10+ midfielder when he plays.

Givet at 4.5 is good buy as well. Allardyce had them keeping a lot of clean sheets at the end of last year and Givet was popping up with a few goals. He's .5 less then the other options in the Blackburn defence.

Dann at 4.5 should be another solid defensive option for cheap.

Nolan at 5.5 could amass a very nice tally given his price. He's always scored goals from midfield and will be at the centre of most that Newcastle do.

Anyone have any info or tips about the promoted teams?

James Morrison for WBA is good value, gets among the goals for them.

Also if Fabregas goes to Barcelona I really think that Nasri at 7.5 would be a great buy. He will become Arsenal's playmaker if Fabregas leaves and he's a really good player

What do people think of Fellaini for 6.5m?

EDIT: Out till September, forget it :(
