worst thing about your job??

Mine is when i take holidays!

one of the girls is part time 9 - 2 im full time 9 - 6
when ever she takes holidays i cover and do her job and my own job i dont get anything for doing it which is fair enough i suppose,
when ever i take holidays she stays back in the evening from 2 - 6 and does some bits of my job (not a lot really i always have major back log when i come back in) and for this she is allowed to build up hours for extra holidays, no one else in the company is able to do this but her (personal friend of the boss) this means she gets 36 days holidays a year i get 20 and have to cover 36 days for her!!

It drives me mad when taking holidays i'm always left thinking about the extra days i will be ran off my feet doing her job! puts a real downer on the holidays, nothing i can do about so i thought i would come on here and have a moan!!

and before anyone mentions it i no i am lucky to have a job,

so what really annoys everyone else about their jobs? i need some cheering up!

    God damn recession

The official '**** break' only lasts 5 minutes! Usually I'm only getting into my 'stride' then and I have to return to my desk with a horn!

I'm 1 guy in a complaints dept... t'is hard to find anything good about the job that I enjoy...

To be honest... I utilise AH as an escape from it as much as I can... the crap that can end up posted here is a relief from the crap I get thrown at me...

Are you seriously saying you cant jerk off within the alloted timeframe.

I think we need to re-negotiate our contract to include ample whacking off time

Having to actually do work. Luckily it doesn't happen very often but when it does, eugh, such a pain in the ass.

I find this is the worst thing about this recession. You can't say anything negative about your job, even if you are being bullied or harassed or treated like sh1t, ohh you're lucky to have a job though! It's great for bad employers.

Two thirds of the office and nearly all the managers are women. They run around all day chatting and talking about makeup.
The lads can't do anythin, we have to listen to it all the time but we'd be shot if we were goin round to each others desks.

It's an accountancy place aswell so no one should be havin big conversations really.

I'm usually busy up until the '**** Break Horn' (excuse the pun) goes so I have to start from scratch! Plus I work far away from the '**** terminals' so by the time I get down there all the good Jazz Mags have been taken. Last week I had to try crack one out to Irish Wives and Mary from Leitrim's hairy bush didn't really do it for me, it was like rubbing one out to a dead squirrel!

The women's **** break lasts 10 minutes in here, disgraceful, equality me hole!

Worst thing = covering for the lazy feckers around me. It's not a taxing or stressful job but god damn... you want people to do their bit. Instead I get landed with all the stuff they haven't had tie to do because they are too busy surfing the net.
I surf the net all day and still get my bit done, suck it up people.

I dont understand this sentence, it doesn't make sense! I live in Kerry, women don't exist outside of the kitchen unless they are popping down to the groceries to buy some spuds and parsnips, managers?! are you mad sir!

If so print off that story about dying from dildos. Then you can listen to them talking about their toys and near death experiences :P

That's what I would have thought but I think these are the ones that have either escaped or are drag queens..
There's around 12 managers nd only 2 are men.
Not too sure what the Dublin office is like though.

Dickheads who, in the middle of the night, piss up against the gates in to the arcade where I work and then it runs down into my gallery.

German customers. They take ages looking, don't engage and leave the pictures in a mess.

Both these issues first thing this morning. Bah!

I'm deeply saddened and sickened by this news, condolences to you sir and your family, one can only come to a realisation that our species will come to an immediate end due to this new change in power, i know that as just one man I can't turn around this unrest but I have to try, the only logically thing to do now is return home and beat my wife viciously until things change, it might take months, it might takes years but my wife must pay!

The lack of training which means that I can only work evening or late night shifts and not the early morning ones, which means the aul social life gets ruined.

I actually hate company's that make times like 9 - 6. I actually dont mind working late and during the busy periods i would work over my time.

I remember doing an interview for a job a few years ago and the told me that the time was 8 30 to 6 pm. I asked them why is the time like that when alot of other company's do 9 to 5. They said that there is a break in the morning and in the evening and an hour lunch. I told them that, that is also in 9 to 5 30 jobs (maybe not all)

Then then told me that they wanted to get as much out of their staff as they could. I started realizing that the company was a bit of a sweat shop .

I mentioned that really if the staff like their job , they will naturally stay back and get it done. Funny enough they offered me position but i declined . A company like that would do my nut . I worked with one for 5 years .

I'm a poker dealer. When someone doesn't know a rule I'll happily tell them. Then 5 minutes later when they make the same mistake they call me a cranky fcuker for pulling them up on it.

Some guy in Galway was having that problem, I think he hooked an electric fence up to his gate.

This guy rings a garage looking for man called Johnny Wankbrake and says "Do you have a wankbrake working there?" The guy on the other end of the phone says "Wankbrake...We're that Fcuking busy we haven't got time for a tea brake!"

    True Story..

9-5 is a figment, well for those in the private sector anyway. 9-6 is standard in office jobs and isn't really asking much. I've often worked much later to get something finished. Lol @ the sweat shop description. Maybe you aren't used to hard work.

    Can I frame this?

My job - clients. Some are grand, but one in particular is an awful tool who gets his kicks from getting one over on the world. There's many a time I've fantasised about stabbing him in the eye with a rusty spoon, and god help the man if my wife ever meets him.

Apart from the rigid timelines of the **** break in here the other thing I hate about my job is the amount of 'Management speak' you have to listen to (Management speak is latin for bull**** btw) in here and also the higher you go in the company is directly proportionate to the amount of bum licking you do.

Jus thought of something, if you are doing a spot of bum licking on the aforementioned '**** break' does that then become a 'rusty trombone break'???

How mundane it is. :( Some days it's tearing, other days you'd be there for well over an hour or three without a single customer and sweet fúck all to do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,976 ✭✭✭Greyfox

Having to actually speak to a customer is by far the worst part of my job, it's absolute torture as they tend to always ramble on and on and I've got use to only dealing with people through email. luckily I can avoid it for the most part by getting an email address or by putting in a 5 after the 08* and conveniently leaving a message...my job is just so depressingly boreing I can no longer pretend to be interested on the phone any more

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,101 ✭✭✭MitchKoobski

People who agree to terms and conditions without reading them, and then try and sue you when they break them and are charged for it.

I would love to stay and post more, but working in a call centre means I have to get back to having english people shout at me about something they neither understand or accept.

And yes that's probably the worst thing.
