Back Injury Manifestation

    Hi,

This was one thing that I was talking about to a few friends of mine recently, we were all wondering how long does it typically take a back injury to become noticeable? What I mean is, say you are squatting with pretty shiite form and using your back to much, would it take a few weeks or months for something like a slipped disc to occur or would it pretty much just happen during a squat?

I know that a lot depends on how bad the person is lifting, a person lifting a box in dunnes isn't going to get injured as fast as a plasterer lifting 2 bags of skim straight off the ground with their back. Would really like to get an answer to satisfy my curiousity or i'll go mad, one of the bad things about being an engineer!!

    Thanks for replies

I'm an engineer and I don't get driven mad by "piece of string" questions.
Seriously. "A back Injury"? Do you mean an erector tear? A slipped disc? Cartilage injury? A fracture? Lat tear? Trapped nerve?
    How bad is the injury?

Get what I'm saying here? The time it takes for a resultant effect to occur depends on severity, usage, type. Like a corroded clutch, it can take a weeks to break or months, you can loose one gear or the whole transmission can go.
