Issue with pumped shower with mixer taps

    Hi All,

I have a pumped shower (Stuart Turner dual impeller) in my apartment and it has recently developed an issue whereby the cold water pressure drops off for some reason and it is then overpowered by the hot tap and the shower becomes scalding.

Once you turn down the hot tap, then there is not enough pressure to run the pump and it shuts itself off - the shower then stops and the water just comes out the taps, as there is not enough pressure to force it up through the shower head anymore.

I thought that I might have some sort of airlock in the system that is preventing the flow to the cold tap on the bath, however I haven't come up with a way of blocking the bath tap, as it has a plastic insert (with lots of holes) that I haven't been able to seal off successfully with my hand, so that I can force water within the mixer from the hot to the cold tap.

Anyone seen anything like this before ? It's driving me mad as it doesn't consistently happen either, so each morning you can't be sure whether the shower will work or not.
