Coverage for this starts at 8:30am on SS2

    NZ Lineup
    1. Tony Woodcock (63)
    2. Keven Mealamu (74)
    3. Owen Franks (12)
    4. Brad Thorn (40)
    5. Tom Donnelly (7)
    6. Jerome Kaino (27)
    7. Richie McCaw – captain (83)
    8. Kieran Read (19)
    9. Jimmy Cowan (36)
    10. Daniel Carter (69)
    11. Josevata Rokocoko (62)
    12. Ma'a Nonu (46)
    13. Conrad Smith (35)
    14. Cory Jane (15)
    15. Mils Muliaina (83)

    Reserves:
    16. Corey Flynn (7)
    17. Ben Franks (2)
    18. Samuel Whitelock (3)
    19. Liam Messam (3)
    20. Piri Weepu (37)
    21. Aaron Cruden (3)
    22. Richard Kahui (10)

Surprises would be the non inclusion of Israel Dagg and Victor Vito.

South Africa delay team announcement till Thurs

    Probable team

    1:Gurthro Steenkamp
    2:John Smit
    3:Jannie du Plessis
    4:Victor Matfield
    5:Bakkies Botha
    6:Schalk Burger
    7:Francois Louw
    8: Pierre Spies
    9:Ricky January

    10:Morne Steyn
    11:Bryan Habana
    12:Juan de Jongh
    13:Jacques Fourie
    14:Gio Aplon
    15:Zane Kirchner

Pending injuries this is the likely team,Olivier should play 12 but PDV will select De Jong,Nonu will run through this lad all day.

I like the AB's for this,I think PDV is pushing his luck playing lads like De Jong,Aplon and Kirchner is pretty bad aswell.

Without Du Preez to control the game i think NZ will win and by at least 10.It goes against the Super 14 form but without Du Preez they are a different team and the AB's will be out for blood.

The breakdown will be key and SA seem to have got to grips sooner.Louw has been performing very well in the super 14 and they will be hoping he dominates McCaw,will be an interesting battle.

I'd expect the front row for South Africa to be different, but yeah. Hosea Gear should have been picked at 11.

The exclusion of Dagg is shocking to be honest. He was pretty class during the summer tour. Injuries are starting to hamper the boks. I thought Bismarck and Fourie Du Preez were supposed to be back for the tri nations?

I'm really looking forward to this match and revenge for last year's defeats. That's a massively strong All Blacks lineup and the home advantage should prove decisive but nothing short of a rout will keep me happy. According to scrum.com this is by far the most experienced AB team in terms of caps to ever take the field. Watch out for the return of Ma'a Nonu! :D

With Nonu playing his first game in a while and Smith prone to the odd injury I'm not surprised that Kahui is on the bench instead of Dagg. Jury's still out on Dagg, looks dynamite against average teams but there are question marks over his defence.

The loss of Du Preez and Fanny Steyn are huge though Morne Steyn has become the most effective 10 in the world at the mo. If the AB's cant beat that powder puff SA backline then they may as well concede the world cup now.

Dont like the all Blacks bench at all

I'd say he will be picked against the Aussies. Mils is a solid FB and we all know the Boks are gonna kick the bejesus out of that rugby ball. High ball + chasers + power = Springboks. I wouldnt want an untested FB with those kind of tactics.

Sorry for going slightly off-topic, but whats happened to Broussow? Is he injured, or has he become ineffective now that the rules dont favour an out and out groundhog anymore????

he was injured early in the super 14 and lost his place. You have a point about the breakdown and him though,he may not be as effective.

He gave away a huge amount of penalties in the earlier rounds of the S14. Would like to see him return to form as he is a genuine 7 but their days may be numbered.

Same thing seems to have happened to Thompson in NZ. Had an awesome S14 but the coaches think the game has gone in a different direction to his style and he has been released from the AB's to join the Sevens squad.

Very dramatic fall from grace for both players.

Pocock seems the only one to be secure in his position for the Aussies.

Yeah Thompson surprises me as he had his best ever season this year under the new interpretations yet they still ditch him.

Is Juan Smit injured? He's the best of the SA backrowers in my book

With the SA propensity to breed 6'4 17 stone males in the thousands the odds on them having strenght in the backrow are pretty good

Will be interesting to see the tri nations in regards to our backrow. It now seems a must to have an athletic huge 7 to smash up rucks, rather than a traditional fetcher.
Sean O'Brien would seem the obvious choice for Ireland.

Its played into Wallace/O Brien's hands a bit in that their weakest points are now largely irrelevant witht he rule changes.

I for one will be sad if this is the end of the groundhog 7 as its a skill very hard to master.

It does take a way a huge part of the Darcy/BOD turnover game as well

You still can,you just have to show the ref that you make an attempt to release the player. The great 7's will adapt imo.

You need 2 greats there, a great 7 and a great ref. Only about 3 of the later.

De Villiers is begining to show signs that he is a good coach. I'd fancy SA to win with that team.

Kirchner, Olivier and Januarie are useless. Why is JDV playing out of position against a seriously threatening All Black back line?

I'm calling it - Bonus point win for New Zealand

I disagree. He had a good year with the Bulls but thats about it. On another note, if JDV is fit, why not put him into the centre with Fourie? I can understand experimenting, but not against Noo Zulland. Nonu and Smith are gonna have a larf.

Last year does not make pretty reading - there's something unnatural about it! I think I'll play safe and go for the All Blacks to win by more than 4 @ 10/11 and a few try scorers - Cory Jane @ 13/8, Ma'a Nonu @ 15/8, Joe Rokococo @ 13/8 and the wonder boy Dan Carter @ 11/4 looks great value with his recent form! :D

Olivier would probably walk into the Ireland team on current form.Jdv started off as a winger and has played there more than 12 for SA.

pdv obviously reckons Jdv is the man to stop cocopops on the wing.Im less confident of an ABs win after seeing that team.

I have a good bet for you JD, Quade Cooper top try scorer for the tournament at 28/1.

If he doesn't score more tries then any of the players you've mentioned above I'll change my username to Johny Wilkinsons unwanted love child ;)

Fourie and Oliver were the best centres in the S14 by a country mile, Nonu just back from injury and the defensive excellence of the two Bok wingers! Smith and Nonu will do well just to gain parity.

Dunno about that. I have a sneaking suspicion that the first sign of a drop in form Deans will have Giteau straight back in there. He does have his favourites.

Personally I think Giteau is the more deserving to be dropped, his form has been average and he's not handling playing second fiddle to QC very well.

I know Deans thinks the sun shines and all that but hay its a 28/1 shot there has to be some risk involved.

Nonu and Smith are Hurricanes team mates, I'd say they know each other inside out and the injury layoff wont be too much of an issue. As for Olivier, he was playing in a savage team which, in my opinion, made him look a lot better than he actually is.

You said olivier was rubbish,he is not.I dont care what team he was playing for,he is a beast and will contain nonu all day.

    He gains yards every touch

The same Olivier that completely manshamed by a 18 year old who has never played a full game for Leicester? Yeah definitely a world class centre.... The Bulls make him look good but by god he's average.

People tend to be very divided on Olivier for some reason. He was class in the super14 this year with the bulls and he was their star player for a lot of it. He's watertight in defence and breaks the line again and again.

He plays a similar game to Andrew Bishop except he's far far better. He'd stroll into the Irish team.

    Average my ass.

Great word. I wouldn't call 6ft1 16 and a half stone lump of Samoan muscle your average 18 year old.

All Blacks only -4 on the handicap? wtf!

Put a few quid on there with Boyle.

This SA team doesn't look great, especially the backs.
    Ricky January at SH?

Thank god i work nights. I just have to struggle on for another hour and a half to catch the game. I reckon the Blacks are going to pip the boks. We seem to be set up for a lot of crash ball running and perhaps for once we arent going to slip back into a kick first, attack later approach. However i feel that with this All Black side the way they are either kicking game or ball in hand is going to be very hard to contest. 2 very strong benches too. I would look to bring Aplon on for De Villiers if he isnt firing and for once the boks have real options at half back . Not expecting a cracking game of rugby but it should set us up for a nice tri nations series regardless.
