Hi everybody...... you reply "hi crazy Keith"

Would all you lovely shotgun yelders be interested in a "shotty ONLY" game some weekend / weeknight in the blessed HRTA?

just trying to " (12)gauge" interest before i try to organise!!!

yes just shotty's , no pistols, no nades, no AEG's, no snipers , just shotty's.

fast moving,full face protection, no bang rule... lets get those hearts "pumping"

(if you dont have a shotty you could A: buy one B: borrow one or C: please dont fill this thread with "shotty's are cr@p" or "shotguns in airsoft are stupid" nice to have an opinion, but please keep it to a "airsoft shotty's are cr@p thread"

That sounds cool. I'm not going to say I'll definitely be there or anything, but if I were heading out to play anyway when that's on, I'd be pretty damn happy.

Remember, correct shotgun usage:

1. Say half a cool thing.
2. Cock shotgun.
3. Say rest of cool thing.

You should be banned for that pun. Failing that, I'll bring out my wonderful TM M3 Super 90 and shoot you myself.

You know the one, we were both oogling it years ago in a certain shop and thinking how great it would be to have for clearing rooms.
Neither of us realised a 42" long, long-draw pump-action shotgun is probably the least useful thing for clearing rooms.

Count me in though, I'd love to bring it out and finally give it some proper usage.

If it's the one I'm thinking of (the Airsoft Surgeon model), I think it's technically above our power limits. Although the scattergun effect of it would be virtually impossible to chronograph.

One with rifles and pistols could be a good game too, but I like the sounds of shotty only.

Saying that, I have gotten kills with the 3 shot clone springer against aegs, it can be done, you just have to really want to.

I wouldn't mind a few pistols-only games thrown in too. It'd mix the day up nicely.
If not, then I wouldn't mind doing a similar thing to this great idea with pistols-only. Some of the best craic I've had in airsoft have been pistols-only and pistols-and-shotguns games. Shakes things up no end.

shottys and pistols then folks as not everyone has a shotty

and as PK is pi$$ing and moaning like a little girl... any mods made to your shotty ARE allowed!!!!

take one M14 mag + one shotgun mag, drill shotgun mag so that it fits onto M14 mag, stick it all together with Duct tape.... BOOM ..... PK hates you....

any of the airsoft shops, any of the TM's are great, but there are plenty clones that do the job for cheap(ish)

The DE models are the best value for money, it's a shame they've become rarer than hens teeth since the whole collapse of the Chinese airsoft market.

After those, TM would probably be the best. There's a handful of gas shotguns, like the Mossberg clones, but the negatives outweigh the positives with the majority of them.
Marushin shotguns are quite nice, but shell ejecting means they're fairly useless in a skirmish.


Also, I have a sudden urge to rekindle my plan to build up a pair of ridiculously OTT pistols before this event.

I'd love to see what shotties are available in reasonably good quality from Irish retailers though.

I have the DE one, which is grand, but any other shotties I've seen have been of the "Look! It shoots at 320FPS and Cost 12 EURO!" variety, that look like I should be inseminating a cow with it.

I would say a milsim would be more fun for this sort of thing. But I would recommend you talk to Paul (if it is going to happen at HRTA) first, whether you are going milsim or no.

We had a chat about this last weekend and Paul was explaining the difficulties of changing things around for a single day's gaming, especially when you are looking to take over on a "normal" game day, and the site normally is unrestricted in terms of airsoft guns. Paul turned a lot of people away in the week running up the the milsim. This is why he usually schedules them for Bank Holiday mondays instead.

Just a bit of helpful advice!

I'd say go for the middle ground and play scenario games. Leave the twenty rounds in your pistol mag etc and just have scenario driven games rather than a free-for-all.

Have to agree with dex. I know i could'nt afford 5 extra mags for my pistol. Ammo is so limited anyway.

It doesnt have to happen on a weekend slot. what about a weeknight? for example the Wednesday night?

It's not exactly milsim, but I did write a scenario for the MilSim library that would work very well for this.

In brief it's a pair of gangs meeting to do an exchange, each with one box of contraband (drugs, ammo, money, p0rn, whatever). The two sides face each other, but conceal all their guns. On the whistle everyone pulls out whatever they have. Cue shooting, panic, mayhem and an incidental attempt to grab whatever was being exchanged.

All it really does is give you an excuse to start shooting (and practice hiding guns in trench coats, down your trousers etc)

If you were going for mil-sim some sort of gang related urban warfare scenario would suit pistols/shotguns only. That or Redneck militia group versus local law enforcement. If this goes ahead on a weekend, and I have any money (looking unlikely at the moment) I might attend, I'm pretty sure I've got a shotgun or two knocking about the place...

Have had several days out where the vfc 416 takes a back seat for my DE shotty and KSC G18. I love my DE, does need a bit of TLC to keep it tight, but such a diff gameplay state of mind, and it's ever so satisfying seeing someone getting hit 3 times at once and not knowing which way to flinch

Think I'll be stuck for ammo?...

only 13 spare shells...

and 3 50 round mags....

The office block is a good idea actually, did a lot of sneaking with m9 there last weekend. A 22rps M4 at the end of one corridor caused a bit of trouble but all semi/pump would make for very fluid games.
