I was there twice (LIDL Nangor road) and they had billions (slight exaggeration). I'd say they'll be selling them for weeks.

Alright krusty, you must have bought the lot because I was in the same store an hour ago and there's not a whole pile left!

I was after the shorts and they only had a few size L and XL left and no Mediums.
They had plenty of jackets and a few t-shirts but not a whole lot of the running socks.

Anyway I got what i needs - the shorts. Hopefully they'll resolve my chaffing problems

Was in Cork St LIDL and no Medium shorts left, this was at 11.30 am !

That sounds like pretty much the same as they had before I went in, and at 8:50am it looked like I was their first customer. I did buy 11 pairs of socks altogether (for 3 people; I'm not greedy!).

Has anyone been to the Rathfarnham or Dundrum LIDL today, and know if they are well stocked?

I kept all the left socks (I have two left feet), and gave the right socks away.

A bit disappointed about the arm pocket. Although there are two compartments in it for keys and phone etc, there is only a fold over flap covering them. I though a bit of velco to keep it fixed down would have been handy. I'll try it out tonight, but I'll probably keep checking it every 5 mins, paranoid that something fell out of it.

You can buy a strip of velco in any decent hardware store like B&Q. I got some there recently. It will stick to the pocket material straight from the packet and solve your problem. Except of course that the strip of velco will probably cost about as much asthe arm pocket did originally.

Have just been to Rathfarnham and apart from having very few socks (in tiny sizes only) they seem to have a good enough stock of everything else..got 2 ladies running jackets in a Medium..the sizes seem a bit on the small side..so i recommend trying stuff on!

I got the purple ladies running top. It was a small but is really a medium or large. The sizes are big. And I too took issue with the lack of ladies shorts! Might get the trousers anyway as the top is great: light and airy.

Just went for my run and tried out the HRM, very cool and gr8 for such a cheep price,
it works well, is easy to use. The watch is comfortable enough though personally id get a new strap for it as its not the best.

Cold compress is also very good found nothing wrong about it.

Knee bandage is amazing straps are very good on it and gr8 support something well worth getting.

Also all three things above are not selling too fast so should be some left tomorrow etc.

Just back from LIdl on Greenhills Rd. Looks like there are not too many runners round there as there are loads of everything left. Got 4 socks, 2 shorts and an armband. Nothing is sold out and thee are loads of HRMs left too.

picked up hrm in lidl today it might be a problem with the particular one i got but apparently my standing still my heart rate was 180 + up to over 220 a few times sp the heart rate alarm was going off constantly it did eventualy settle down and read properly for a little while and then it went nuts again... its a pity cos it has a stopwatch on it and a few other little tricks.. which is why i got it, i have a polar that i got for free but theres no stopwatch on it... anyone else have any problems.. gonna take it back in 2 minds whether to swap for another or get money back

Can I ask, whats are the benifit of a HRM?

I suppose what i am asking is, am I missing out on much by not having one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,909 ✭✭✭woody1

im far from an expert but i think, if you can figure out your max heart rate 220 minus your age (the basic method ) you can then use it as a training tool to guage intensity so instead of going by how you feel or percieved effort you can train to 50% or 75% or whatever of your max heart rate... or if you want to stay at a low intensity to go for longer distance... ish

I bought a few pairs of the socks today. I don't think they're quite as good as the last lot they had (navy and black colour, or were they from Aldi?). But, they seem well worth the money anyway.

well im not running long and its good for me as i can keep an eye on how much i am pushing myself - the watch takes your weight height and age and when running etc gives you your hart rate + a % when hart reaches 99% a alarm goes off to warn you!

Aside from that you can make sure you are training in side the best ranges for hart rate of your age etc. (info on this can be found online)

if it was a 100 euro I would not get it yet! but for only 20 euro i personally think its handy thing to have.

it is also meant to show you BMI - fat burnt and fitness level but have not figured out all that on it yet :P

got 2 tops and they are really nice. Just in the door from a run and i test ran one of them. Really good value for 7 euro. The sizes are pretty generous. I got large and any bigger it would be swimming on me. I seen a pair of XL shorts in the store and they looked bigger than normal sizing also.

I'm off to stick a Lidl heat pack on my hip/back now :D

Plenty of runners, HRM's, headphones & sunglasses left in Lidl in Ballincollig this evening but not too much of anything else. I took the last two pairs of 9-11 socks & the very last medium pair of shorts.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,483 ✭✭✭ManFromAtlantis

i like the socks. comfy. size 9-11 (tho i thought a smidgen small)

there are two diff hrm on offer one is CRIVIT and the other is some other one.
    wonder whats the diff/best?

    thanks for that.

i have a bad habit of easing off on my speed/intensity while out running. One minute I'm running at a nice steady pace, the next - without realising it I'm just trotting along daydreaming or whatever. Would a HRM help me out with this issue? i.e. could i set the HRM to beep when my heart rate dropped below a certain level?

then again, I'll be listening to my mp3 player so i probably wouldn't hear the beep/alarm.

From what i can see it wont beep if your hart rate drops below a point - but then i have only used it running once so far! the beep is loud and i heard with with my mp3 player on but then again we all have them at diff levels of sound :P
I think it would help you as i found as i ran i was looking at it alot more then a normal stop watch i used so i was very aware of my hart rate so that in its self may keep you more tuned in while running

Think i'll invest so. They have cheapo one in lidl at the mo', if it doesn't work out sure its only 20 quid.

the one I got is a little temperamental if the strap isn't tight enough or in the right position. It didn't seem to be a problem when I was running but I did some sit ups and it seemed to become dislodged to the point where the displayed heart rate was lower than it should have been. It also registered a much higher heart rate when I was adjusting it at some point

I saw two crivit brand HRMs. They looked the same and had the same feature list so I just picked the one that was in a smaller box since it was less hassle to carry :pac:

Picked up a pair of the earphones and the knee support. The earphones are very good. I had a pair of in-ear buds that I didnt like using, they felt almost claustrophobic (probably not the best way of describing it) but these ones are very light, and more importantly, they won't budge so you won't have to keep resecuring them in your ear.

The knee support is great too, took it out last night and could feel the difference immensely. Very happy with it.

There is a special place in hell for people who take the stuff in Lidl out of their boxes to have a look at them and then just leave them out! I accidentally bought a small knee brace today when I wanted a medium one. I realised when I got home so walked back up to Lidl later on to exchange it. All of the remaining knee braces appeared to be small... but wait! What's that! An empty medium knee brace box! And look, one knee brace lying out of it's box, why this is my lucky day! ... No! It's small!
