Protein intake calculation and queries

Hi folks I have a question or two about protein if ye would be so kind.

Today I added a new food to my diet, it's inexpensive and delicious in my opinion, chickpeas.

So I try to get in about 2-3 eggs a day along with a tin of tuna. That is what I would normally have but I have added protein shakes and the chick peas.

Now I have done a bit of a search on google and got this site. I have no idea how reputable it is or how accurate it is. According to that site I would need about 100 - 150G of protein a day. I am unsure of how much I would need as I am not a body builder, I just want to add muscle mass to certain areas and tone others. Not massive amounts though.

So I am trying to calculate the amount of protein I am taking in with my new diet, I am getting the following figures:

Breakfast: Good portion of porridge made with water, added a small drop of slimline milk and a good tea spoon full of honey. Approx 5G of protein?

Lunch (3pm): (it was late so kinda made up my dinner too :() Tin of Tuna, 2 eggs, 1 tomato, half a lettuce, some spring onions, pickled gerkins, beetroot in vineger, slice of ham, slice of light cheese, portion of cottage cheese, half tin of chick peas raw (should I cook them?), mayonaise. I forgot to add the extra virgin olive oil and the red onion :(

6G for each egg, about 8g for the chick peas, no idea about the tuna (150g drained weight) or other foods.

Protein shake: Approx 45G of protein.

Snack: 4g or 5G of protein.

Without the shake, it's pretty low. Very low if you ask me. It's 75G of protein with the shake, not including the other foods or the tuna (not sure what they are).

How much protein would be in a medium chicken breast?

Do protein shakes have any negative effects on your body? I was told that if you take shakes you will have more water retention. Do I need the shake? (I think I do)

I have 4 squares of bourville chocolate today and some jelly beans. I know the jelly beans are bad, but what do you think about the bournville chocolate? I am thinking it is much better than milk chocolate. I can't stand the 70% cocoa chocolate, I have tried it several occasions, it's just too bitter.

Food intake today was small, I just wasn't hungry. Breakfast kept me going for a very long time. Porrige is the bees knees.

I normally have another egg or two as a snack at some stage, but I didn't today.

    Thanks for reading :)

I've just been doing some protein calculations myself :D

In front of me I have a lidl's pack of 4 chicken breast fillets and the total weight is 890 grams, at the back it say 100 grams = 24 grams of protein.

    1 chicken breast = 222 grams (avg) = 53 grams of protein.

Looks like my chicken omelets have quite a bit of protein in them! :D

If that's true, that's a lot of protein. I eat as much chicken as I can, but eating all these good foods can be expensive, which is not good :(

I would say closer to 10-15 grams protein depending on protion size. add more milk for more protein.

Tuna is about 30grams protein per tin ish.......

about 25-30grams, have one for lunch and one for dinner

shakes wont casue water retention, not drinking enough waster casues water retention, if creatine in the shake maybe that could casue a small amount of water retention. negative side effects, not really, whey protein is a food, just dont go over board as it would be excess calories. one shake before triaining 20-25 grams, and one after training 30grams. roughly.

Depends on your total cal intake, personally i would keep the chocolate for the weekend, eat clean mon to friday and then eat what you want on the weekend, also dependent on goals etc.
