Germany -v- Spain

As much as I love Spain, there is no way I can have them as favorites for this match. 19/10 is best price for Germany as of post time. I have to follow my instinct here and lump on Germany...

Spains defence is awful and Sergio Ramos is easily their weakest link...Ozil will annihilate Spain down that side and with the speed (and accuracy) that Germany attack, I can't see how Spain will cope. They will conceed goals. Definitely.

    Everything I own on Germany @ 19/10

Against the usual German starting 11 I'd agree but with Mueller out it will be closer than that. He has 4 goals and nearly as many assists compared to David Villa who has 5 goals currently. I'd say Germany will go through alright but might be their toughest match yet.

Is the 19/10 for 90 mins or to go through? Which bookmakers?

Will def be backing both teams on pens in this one.

Well said ozil, I was just thinking harder about it staring at the oddschecker screen :P and remembered Muller is out.

    Will Hill - 19/10 Germany

    Boyles have a double on Holland/Germany @ 4-1, obv. both 90 mins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 245 ✭✭Insane Rambling

Will have to see the starting lineups of both teams before having a bet on this ! Think the Spanish midfield will make the Germans change things around a bit more than just swapping Muller like for like!

PP have 30/1 half time/full time, Spain / Germany. got €10 on that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,952 ✭✭✭Morzadec

SOme nice scorecast prices on Villa and Klose 1-0 and 2-0. They are both banging them in and I think the first goal will be crucial in this match.

I'd just about tip Germany to go through in this one. They have played the best football of the tourney so far. 19/10 isn't bad alright. I'm going to back them at EVs to qualify though. WIll still be supporting Spain though, have them backed from the start.

19/10 is Will Hills Online price apparently.

I was n their shop today and their price was 9/5. Pretty ghey IMO.

Put my winnings from the Spain game (€45) on Germany to qualify (evens).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,534 ✭✭✭SV

Podolski and Klose at 2/1 and 3/1 respectively for anytime goal scorer, easy money I reckon.
    (on PP)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,853 ✭✭✭Kod-box

Podolski is shorter than Klose to scorte anytime?

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

Klose is 2/1 (I'm on that so much)

    Podolski is 3/1

    Both anytime

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,341 ✭✭✭El Horseboxo

Gonna have a look at this game in the morning before deciding my bets. Already have both teams to score in a double with the Dutch win tonight. Big stakes so hoping to God both teams put goals on the scoresheet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 737 ✭✭✭Chimichangas

Hope the WC winner comes from this game.
Disappointed to see Ghana and Uruguay go out, coz I thought they were both great.
Dont like the Netherlands so much with that filthy v Bommel playing for them.

This game should be close and depends which one turns on the class. Would like to see Spain win overall, coz they deserve a WC, but think Germany might edge it since they were the most consistent and brilliant since day 1.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,079 ✭✭✭colly54

Trochowski 20/1 1st goalscorer looks good presuming he will play in place of mueller

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,961 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

yet again germany are second favourites and i can't see why.

as well as laying spain dnb at 1.93
i also got 4/1 on the holland/germany double
    in the shop.
Now im wondering if germay could cover the -1 handicap yet again :)

    I'm thinking:

Puyol to be booked. €5- (no idea of odds, PP blocked in work)
    Germany to qualify. €5- (Evens)

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

    PP Specials -
    • Villa To score anytime and Spain to win @ 3/1
    • Klose To Score anytime and Germany to win @ 9/2
    • Both Germany and Spain To score in the first half @ 4/1

All very tempting, especially the latter two. If there are under 2 goals in this I'd be massively surprised.

I really do wonder how Spain will set up. I've heard rumours it'll be Llorente and Villa starting up front tonight. I wouldn't be surprised if Torres is dropped.

Ramos vs Podolski, I fancy Ramos to be booked tonight as well.
Busquets vs Ozil is another one that has my eye.

    €150 on germany to qualify
€150 on germany to win the cup

    please please please :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,109 ✭✭✭Cavehill Red

I've an ante-post on Germany e/w to win it, so if they make the final I'm up good money.
So fearing the worst, I'm considering arbing that by lumping on Spain tonight.
The Octopus seems to agree that Spain could edge this one. Mueller is a loss for the Germans, and they perhaps realise that many of them will have another two chances at the World Cup, whereas for this Spanish team it is their last hurrah.
The game could go either way. Could be settled clearly in one team's favour or another in the 90, or could go all the way to penos. Form's with Germany, but class with Spain.
If it weren't for my ante-post, I probably wouldn't touch this game normally. I'm just raising a wary eyebrow at so many people lumping on Germany. I backed them from day one until their qf and they never let me down. But this one could be a game too far, I fear.

Thank you Holland for gaining some of my heavy losses in the Q/F's. :P

2-0 Germany for me with a few euro on 3-0 just in case, Spain pressing for a goal when 2-0 down and Germany go on the counter and nab one. They have proven to be the masters of that at this WC.

Klose 1st scorer with PP is 6/1, e/w is 1/3 odds for 5 places. Works out 2/1 for anytime plus you've got a 1st scorer bet on as well.

Anyone know the odds on Germany to win to nil? Might be tempting!

    Klose anytime is now 23/10

Cheers, I'll do the 1st scorer and anytime as seperate bets now. :)

23/10 is slight value on Klose to score, the other books have him about right IMO.

I was expecting the over 2.5 goals to come in quite a bit but it's still 2.3 on the exchanges and good value IMO in what could be an open game.

Spain are weak defensively when teams actually get at them rather than sit back and as mentioned by the OP, Germany's pace in wide areas will cause the Spanish serious problems and this is what I'm focusing on for 2 great value bets IMO:

Sergio Ramos to be booked @ 2/1 (Skybet) - Ramos loves to venture forward and with the pace of Podolski and Ozil down the left, he'll be playing catchup on a lot of occasions and he's the type who likes to accidentally stick out a leg and then put his hands up.

Germany over 4 corners @ 1/1 (Paddypower) - Same thinking here. I know Spain will probably dominate possession but when when their full backs do go forward (and with their lack of width in midfield), the flanks will be wide open for the german pace to hit the bylines.

    Klose any time @ 3.05

    Villa any time @ 2.36

    Germany 2-1 @ 13.5

    Draw/Germany @ 7.8

Gamble developing on Spain in this one. Hills claim to have taken an even 500k sterling on Germany to qualify

I'll make one more 5 euro bet later, either a booking or a treble/double(corner and card index)

    Enhanced Spain Wincast
    €20.00

    M Klose @ 23/10

    Klose anytime

Germany on the asian handicapp -1.0

    Both teams to score.

    Villa anytime.

That's four off the top of my head that I'm definately betting on.

Surely you mean gamble developing on Germany!!

I get a small feeling Klose will score first @ 13/2 and I've also an odd feeling that if it's not Klose, it could be Friedrich @ 50/1.

Think I'll stay away from this game though.Might just do a MOTM bet for interest's sake.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,346 ✭✭✭blindpilot

Although I've been extremely confident about Germany winning in their last 2 games and won well from it I just cant call this game. So I'm going with over 2.5 @ 6/5 with €50 on it. Both teams are shaky enough in defence so I'm hoping for some good attacking football and at least 3 goals of course.:D

  • Moderators Posts: 8,755 ✭✭✭x PyRo

    5pts - Germany to win @ 2/1 (Stan James)

2pts - Sami Khedira to score anytime @ 10/1 (Powers)

    2pts - Germany (-1) @ 11/2 (Powers)

    1pt - Germany to win 3-1 @ 33/1 (Coral)

    That'll do me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,788 ✭✭✭dasdog

You'd want to be brave to go big on the outcome of this game.

Gone for anytime goal scorer with Klose. If Germany do go ahead I'd expect Spain to score...and vice versa.

Yeah it's well worth creating an account with everyone and putting money into them when you find a bet that's better priced. I have accounts with nearly everyone, It has probably upped my profits by at least 20% compared to when I used to just bet with Bet365 and PP because they were the only accounts I had. It's brilliant for correct score betting too. Example being PP's are going 22/1 on Germany winning 3-1, I got 33/1 with Coral. Couple of hundred euro difference if it manages to win! Spend some time creating accounts, And get as many free bets with the difference bookies too, It's brilliant! :pac:

    I've gone for:

Germans to qualify for next round €5- @ 10/11
    Puyol to be booked €4- @ 13/8

Slightly unsettling feeling that nobody is going for Spain...... hmmmm this could turn into a 10 page thread of moaning and hard luck stories!! ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,945 ✭✭✭D-Generate

Had Germany to win it at the beginning at 15/2. I am tempted to lay it off but since its only a small stake I will go with my passion and cheer on Germany to win the tournie. It will be a big task to win tonight though since they are missing Mueller, not only a goalscorer but someone to get the others in to place to score goals. Villa will definitely be making waves tonight but the German defense will leave him bruised for the next match regardless of the outcome.

Spain to me have always choked at major events and never fulfilled their potential but the Germans have steely determination. If Spain go ahead then I think Germany won't lose the rag but Spain will and Germany will clinch it.

    €5 on Spain to win 3-2 @ 33/1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,705 ✭✭✭Mr Trade In

€1 on Germany to win 4-3 @ 150/1, I also did a double of Holland 3-2 and Germany 4-3,didn't get the odds on this but should be good.

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,676 ✭✭✭jayteecork

Germany to win 3-1 with Villa, Klose, and Podolski on the scoresheet.

BTW, could anyone tell me why I couldn't back the above bet as an accumalator.
I can do a treble with those three scoring but if I add Germany to win 3-1 it won't let me, so I made that seperately.
Only small bets mind, have main bet on Germany to win 90 mins.

Hard to believe Spain are a shorter price after how Germany have been.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38 tonyrich1

this match could go either way but i do believe its going to be an open affair, i just dont think spains back 5 will be able to cope with the likes of klose/ozil/podolski/scweinsteger and if trachowski plays he will be one to watch
    ive gone with
    both teams to score
germany 3-1 klose to score 1st
    germany 3-2
villa anytime and spain to win

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,696 ✭✭✭mark renton

Important to note that Spain GK - Casillias has never looked anywhere near comfortable in his last few games - not exactly sure if its the ball or his missus chatting to other players thats distracting him :) - big plus for Germany

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,224 ✭✭✭✭SantryRed

    Either has Neuer :)

Fuming I didn't put a double on all four teams to score in the semi. It was just over 3/1 on PP. It better not come through.
