I'll wait and see, i'm not a big fan of spy type stuff....though Human Target is quite watchable, Valley sells that show.

ah alias was a great show. wasn't there already a nikita spin off called assasins?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

^ yup...it ran for five season, two movies (original) French and piss poor US remake with Bridget Fonda, here's a review of The CW's new show:

"The Assasin" was the title in this country of the film "Point of No Return" which was an American remake of the original French film Nikita.

The TV series "La Femme Nikita" never got an airing in this country IIRC, unless you were one of the few who could get Channel 5. Should be interesting.

Nikita is very dark?...what's it doing on The CW then?....lol!

Nikita - which also stars former O.C. actress Melinda Clarke and Kick-Ass star Lyndsy Fonseca - will premiere on September 9 on The CW. - Melinda Clarke + that hot from Kick Ass????......FTW!

New promo's of Nikita up: http://www.youtube.com/user/CWtelevision#p/c/AA26EBF9E0DC475C

I'm perplexed by this show, it seems totally at odds with what The CW normally show....in fact, it actually looks good!

I see Living are plugging the hell out of this too.... I've seen a good few TV spots for it.

    Well...whatcha think?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

I'm in!....slick, very slick!....Shane West and Maggie Q are standout, it was a very very strong pilot!, very entertaining and kept me glued. This is VERY unlike a CW show....you'd think this to be a Fox show bth.

They've certainly set thing up nicely with having Alex inside Division, the action was pretty decent, Maggie's clothes were stunning....i think this show coud be a real hit if they can keep up this quality!

CSI's Danny Cannon is involved, and McG....all round i thought the acting was pretty good, nice to see Melinda Clarke again and hoping she becomes more involved as the series goes on. Dunno why but i got a few Dollhouse vibes?...maybe it's Division and the handlers, training people up etc.

I'm quite positive about the show, it has all the basic elements of a slick spy drama with various arcs going on, i'm gonna stick with it!

Yeah I really liked it. It definitely exceeded my expectations. Great action (although a bit PG to be honest), and the twist caught me by surprise.... well played.

On the negative side, Shane West is as wooden as a barn door (gruff <> charismatic).

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

^ i respectfully disagree about West, i've seen him in alot of other things, thus based on seeing him in Nikita i think it's certainly one of the better acted parts he's played, re; his other work.

And not to blow my own horn....but i thought Alex was a plant before the reveal :-)
Living TV (UK) will start airing this in October.

Ah christ.. Shane West is in it? He's woeful!

Will watch later. Didn't have high hopes for it, but good to hear it's decent.

An issue i have is....who is this show aimed at?....what demographic?...The CW targets women 18-34, aka advertisers......but i think Nikita skews a much older audience, it's not teen or tween, to me it's aimed at an older or mid twenties crowd....especially male.

Maggie Q is stunning, body from hell!...once Lynday Fonseca gets dolled up and on missions we'll have more female hotties, besides Shane West there are no eye candy for the ladies....unlike TVD wherby you've got like a dozen super hot guys.

It has similar tones to Alias but it's not as good, well only one episode but as someone said it is very PG-ish.

That being said I actually enjoyed it and will watch it. Didn't see the twist coming at the end which is surprising because I usually do, so that was a good ending and sets things up to be interesting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,533 ✭✭✭don ramo

seems like a good show, i hope it doesnt struggle in the ratings, as said it isnt exactly aimed at regular CW audiences,

i kind got a dark angel vibe off this, theyll probably all have tatoos instead of barcodes, will be interesting what yerman on his first mission will tell the others when hes back,

have to say the i thought maybe alex might cross nikita, and end up coming on-side with division at first, but i wasnt entirely surprised to find shes working with nikita,

also was checking out IMDB it only has 5 episodes listed, anyone know if thats right,

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

^ based on early numbers....it beat TVD!!!!!

Pretty good. Decent enough to convince me to watch another episode or two before deciding whether to add it to my list of shows to watch or not.

    First thoughts......boring and unoriginal!

I can't find anything remotely attractive about Nikita.....I don't think I can watch it unless I find something......maybe she will grow on me.....Will watch one more episode...............

That Michael guy..........he is hard to watch!

Thought the first was decent.. definitely very Alias-ish!

Have to agree with Dave that Shane West is woeful... what's with the gruff voice? I've seen the guy in ER.. his voice isn't anything like that. Did he take inspiration with Christian Bale in Batman or something? Daft anyways!

Lynsey Fonseca is stunning.. even with minimal make-up and a tracksuit on.

Some very good action set-pieces in there (particularly the scene in the bathroom) - looking forward to episode 2.

The second ep. was pretty strong as well, we got backstory on Alex and Nikita with a sniper rifle, i thought Shane West was better in this ep. also.

But, it's more evident now Nikita is aimed at a very different audience to the normal CW fare, it skews older and more male. But i enjoyed the second ep. and will stick with it for now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,627 ✭✭✭Sgt Pepper 64

Isnt it weird (and frustrating) having to wait for episodes like normal telly?
    Hate that!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Final ep.2 numbers...overall viewers better then TVD, but the crucial W18-34 demo is much lower, this tells me it skews more male and older viewers.

    Nikita
    - 3.195 million viewers
    - 2.1/3 HH
    - 1.2/3 A18-49
    - 1.2/4 A18-34
    - 1.5/4 W18-34

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,503 ✭✭✭✭Also Starring LeVar Burton

Given up on this already after watching the second episode - not fast paced enough and I'm not warming to the characters. The only reason I even gave the 2nd episode a chance was for Lyndsy Fonseca, but I can just re-watch Kick Ass to get my Lyndsy Fonseca fix...

Still bangin' on about the swimsuit...she seems insecure about her boobs, thing is...she looked amazing!

    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/ustv/s126/nikita/news/a277722/nikita-star-swimsuit-scene-terrified-me.html

"It was absolutely terrifying," Q said. "Also, it was supposed to be a small scene. It’s like a private party of seven or eight people. I get to set and there’s like 100 hot extras with like massive t*ts and they’re gorgeous. And I was like, 'Really, you guys?!' Now I’m walking around set looking like a 12-year-old boy next to all these hot girls with huge boobs. I was so horrified. I was dying."

Anyone else get the impression that it Nikita killed Alex's family, at the behest of Division? I think it may come down to this at the end of season finale.

I like it anyway, will stick with this one and hope it lasts.

Yeah that'd be my guess too; I suppose it'll be interesting to see does Alex know yet or will her finding out be the season finale?

Of course, it could be that she knows now but will get found out by Division so she'll pretend she never knew and so turns on Nikita but is really just playing along to stay alive.

Ep. 3 was average at best, always thought Julie Gonzalo was hot!...her and Amanda Schull could be twinz!

I thought Nikita was channeling Morpheus in that underground car park, wearing her smokin' hot leather coat, final numbers....for The CW it's gangbusters, BUT....it's the W18-34 demo that matters, and it's not that hot considering TVD got a 2.7 and GG get around 2.5:

    Nikita
    - 3.154 million viewers
    - 1.9/3 HH
    - 1.1/3 A18-49
    - 1.1/3 A18-34
    - 1.2/3 W18-34

ratings are grand for CW,means it will get a full season. has more ratings than "GG" and close to "VD" so its grand,no need to start comparing these shows at all.

for the show itself its not bad,but I think I will get fed up of Nikita and Shane West's character (such a lame character I can't remember the character's name) dancing about each other when they could just solve a whole lot of problems by either (a) one of them killing the other or (b) hooking up, which seem like they might be going towards since there is apparently some connection or attraction there.

Seriously,if division don't start to question how he has come up against Nikita so many times and neither of them has died then they are a $hite black ops agency!

all it means is they have opened another market to sell to, over 3 millions viewers as said is great for the CW, maybe it doesnt fit into there traditional women 18-35 bracket, but theres an oportunity for them to expand there audiences, so i doubth they pass that up, also smallville is ending this year, so that will also narrow down more viewers that nikita could possibly keep for them,

it seems CW is a struggling channel, and it need to widen is demographic a lot if it wants to survive,

Kicks off Tuesday October 7th on Living TV (UK), 9pm!

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

I thought last nights ep. was the strongest since the pilot...and it was Alex and her backstory that sold it, we also got Nikita back arc + we found out Michael was also a recruit, some nice asskicking from Maggie (she does most of her own stunts), ratings....quite a drop:

    Nikita
    - 2.682 million viewers
    - 1.7/3 HH
    - 1.0/3 A18-49
    - 0.9/3 A18-34
    - 1.1/3 W18-34

CW *must* be worried about the target demo, Nikita skews old and male...not good for them.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Latest ep. was pretty darn good. Didn't expect yer wan to get popped in the chest, Nikita has a new recruit?, wonder if Alex will ever get out of Division to do field work?...she's gonna be found out soon enough, don't know how she can spend sooo much time on the computer and they not knowing something is iffy or doing a trace?

Nikita had a nice ratings boost: Nikita was the big gainer last night, posting double digit week-to-week increases of 22% in adults 18-34 (1.1/3), 27% in women 18-34 (1.4/4), 10% in adults 18-49 (1.1/3), 18% in women 18-49 (1.3/3) and 11% in total viewers (3.0mil).
