Is this a bird fossil (feathers)?

    Hi to all,

    My friend has just found this fossil in the local woods (Rotherham UK).

    It looks like feathers to me but I'm no expert, and as I seem to remember hearing that feathers rarely fossilise I thought it may be of interest.

    Looks more like a brachiopod to me. Looks a decent specimen all the same. Is there a nearby museum you can bring it to to have it looked at by an expert?

    I'd say brachiopod as well.

    Okay. Having looked at them I'm fairly certain it's a brachiopod (or something very similar). Definately not feathers.
