Janeane Garofalo is to join CBS Criminal Minds spin-off.
The forthcoming offshoot, titled Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, stars Oscar winner Forest Whitaker as the leader of an elite team of agents within the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit. Garofalo will play one of those agents.

It's ridiculous coming up with a spin-off, considering A J Cook got the elbow from Criminal Minds to save money, and that Paget Brewster seems to be hanging on by her fingernails. I see on IMDB that she's signed up for another season.

They'll probably scrap the jet and the SUVs and give them push-bikes for the next series.

^ there seems to be alot of "downsizing" going on!...CSI Vegas has lost Wendy Sims from the main cast, thus the Wedges drama/romance is over. A few more shows got downsized as well, incl. CSI Miami.

CBS has formally confirmed speculation that Vangsness's Penelope Garcia will pull double-duty next season serving as master researcher/analyst for both the core "Criminal Minds" team, but also the gang on the midseason spinoff "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior."

Former West Wing star Richard Schiff has joined Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, a CBS rep confirms.
Schiff will recur as FBI director Jack Fickler (aka Forest Whitaker's boss) and he will appear in the spinoff's first episode, according to Entertainment Weekly, which first reported the news. The show is scheduled to debut at midseason.

"Perp" is for your lowly state and local police. "Unsub" is a term only for the feds.

The term predates the show, and is not uncommon in such shows.

whats with spinoffs? i mean criminal minds is a very good show as is. why have a spinoff when the main show is having financial difficulties? just concentrate on the original. i never got the spinoff thing - it doesnt work for any show IMO. the original CSI is the best by a mile there was no need for spinoffs

I have no problem with spin it's but this just seems pointless. Great spin OCD can take really do something different, as bad as it was at times at least the Lone Gunmen wasnt just X-Files 2.0. Same with Stargate Atlantis, it strived to be something other than a copy and in the end turned into the stronger show. this however screams Pointless, it's just another team investigating similar crimes. That they have doubled Garcia's screentime is the biggest sin, she's a poor character. I find myself skipping any scene in which she starts crying because she has to do her job. how she is a fan favourite is beyond me, she's poorly written, has no real development over the 6 seasons and comes acos as the most 2 dimensional and unbeliveale of the team and this is a team which includes the smartest boy alive.

Just started watching episode 4 of season 6 and my heart sank when Garcia was introduced as JJ's replacement, the strained attempts at humour, her trying to be serious, all present and correct but now seemingly onscreen more than some of the true mains. If she ever gets more screen time than Joe Mantegna then I'm finished with the show.

CM:SB is getting pretty bad early reviews. Words like "cliché" and "cookie cutter" seem to be the keywords of choice.

Just watched the first ep of this and Criminal Minds it is not. Has a totally different feel to it. The opening credits are kind of Law and Order-y and there are "4 hours missing", "12 hours missing" reminders every now and again throughout the show. It can be pretty high energy at times, kind of felt like I was watching a music video a lot of the time. The acting isn't terrible but the characters are completely 2-d. You've got your overly angry newbie, wise older guy, righteous female detective and two background models. It was...fine. Probably won't be tuning in again.

It was bad, and the script seemed the same for each episode, despite slightly different scenarios. Whatever was good about it was cancelled out by the appearance of Kirsten Vangness, who just makes me yawn.

After being informed Garcia is in it, I will not be watching. Criminal Minds is a show I love and Il never stop watching it even though Garcia is in it. Hotch, Fat Tony, JJ,Prentiss, Morgan and Reid are brilliant characters who I enjoy watching.

It has to be said that the only thing wrong with CM is Garcia. I cringe during her screen time.

Having seen the cross over episode of CM where the new team arrived I was not fond of any of them. This, along with Garcia being in it is the reason I won't be watching.

Am I right in thinking that this show was cancelled??

Yes it was cancelled after 1 season (13 episodes), but I liked it.
There were some great episodes in there.
During a quiet summer, you could do a lot worse.

Looking forward to this, if's it even half as good as Criminal Minds then it will be watch-able viewing for me. I'm also a Garcia fan so glad to hear she's in it. I love Criminals Minds so much I recently bought the box set series 1-5 on amazon for €47 delivered, and I have all of series 6 on the sky box.
