Ireland has the second highest food and drink prices in the European Union. New figures from Eurostat, the EU statistics agency, show Irish prices were 29% higher than the EU average.

I'm ok to spend money on good quality food... but not to be ripped off

The retailers have come out and said that the survey is out of date as it was done in 2009. They claim that Irish prices have fallen quicker than anywhere else in Europe.

    I have my doubts!

glad they agree they were screwing us last year ;) looking at my average bill for dunnes stores it has definitely increased, even noticed several items have hiked up in price over the last few weeks (including irish ones)
