Sue Slyvester is obviously a very popular character, won three awards?
What i find interesting is people voted Flash Forward should not have been cancelled?

    Poor Horatio!!!!!

I never really did,not enough people actually watch it. Most shocking result was entire best season of a tv show going to 24 when it was probably one of the worst seasons up until
Jack went on his rampage. That was only the last 7 episodes. The other 17 were pants imo

Fair comment... its like a bad meal followed by a fantastic dessert. The dessert is the last thing they remember.

Lost got best single episode for its finale? wtf?!
I am happy with John Lithgow getting Standout Performance in a Single Episode though; well deserved.

Edited to add: Thanks for all the work you've put into the awards Mr E

well done mr. e great work

i am happy with dexter's wins but it needed to win more :p

Not having seen 24 I'd agree with a lot of those votes although some are baffling.

Is Evangeline Lilly really a bad actress, for example?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,924 ✭✭✭✭RolandIRL

No Stargate Universe or Robert Carlyle  :(

thought Lost would do better, although i didn't see the point of adding Lost to the category of "shows that should be cancelled" given that it was in its final season anyway

a big thank you to Mr E for all the hard () work he put in, despite the confusion over the Best Single Episode :D

I'd hoped supernatural would do better, also surprised Lost didn't win best Finale, even though I didn't vote for it

    Should have voted :( .

Glee in Children's Programming, while not a fan it isn't a children's show IMO.

Well done 24 but even as a fan I knew your day was coming. (sorry for the pun  )

If I had known about these awards, I'd have thought that Breaking Bad would be a contender for shark jumping.

Anyway, here is my own mini award

Best use of music in a series
    Treme

Very surprised about these results - can't believe "Lost" didn't get best finale (deserved or otherwise).

And what's with all the '24' love? Seemed to come out of nowhere. Is it nostalgia because it's ending?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,640 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

No way in my view should Lost's 'The End' have been named best episode of a TV show. That episode alienated practically half its audience, failed to answer major plotlines and was 8/10 tops as far as I'm concerned. And I say that as someone who up until season 6 was a big fan.

    Interesting results nonetheless.

Cheers for running the awards Mr E...

I'm quite disappointed that Doctor Who didn't get a look in... Was expecting Misfits and Supernatural to do better... I also thought LOST and Dexter would do better than they did... I'm a huge 24 fan, but honestly don't think it deserved the recognition it got with these words - yeah it was great and all, but not in comparison to other shows...
Also, Glee isn't a kids show, so that should definitely be a win for Quizone...

Hey, Mr E any chance, at some stage when you get a chance, we could see the complete breakdown of all the results?

I'd like to see a quick tally of 'which of these shows do/did you watch' from everyone who voted, just to see if people voted for the only options they had or if they chose on real merit.

I haven't watched 24 since season 3 or 4 and have yet to get around to Dexter (and haven't seen any ads or reality TV/soaps) so obviously I only voted for shows I'd actually seen all or most of.

This was a really hard season to vote for, so many good contenders.
Glad to see Breaking Bad do well, but also glad John Lithgow got standout performance. Enjoyed 24 but don't think it really think it was on top form until the last few episodes.
Thanks to Mr. E for all the hard work.

    Dexter
    24
    House
    Glee
    Modern Family
    Doctor Who
    Lost
    Supernatural
    How I Met Your Mother
    Big Bang Theory
    Fair City
    Ros na Rún
    Apprentice (IRL & UK)
    Survivor
    X-Factor
    Wizards of Waverly Place
    Spongebob Squarepants
    Hannah Montana
    Quizone
    Misfits
    Stargate Universe
    Friday Night With Jonathan Ross
    The Late Late Show [IRL]
    Chuck
    Éalú
    Two and a Half Men
    Family Guy
    Community
    Dollhouse
    True Blood
    Heroes
    Scrubs
    Survivors
    Reaper
    Smallville
    An Crisis
    Rásaí na Gaillimhe

God, I watch far too much telly... and a lot of crap telly at that...

    Out of the 66 voters,

54 voted in the 'Hottest female' category
35 voted in the 'Hottest male' category

So at least 23 out of the 66 answered both questions.

Evidently, like The Todd from Scrubs, many people appreciate hotness, regardless of gender.

I think also because it ended on a high. The Day 8 really pulled out all the stops for Jack Bauer, and left us with some nostalgia something that Lost failed to do in its final season.

While Day 8 isn't as strong as either Day 1 or Day 5, the twist and turns were just as exciting. :D

God I am going to miss 24. :(

Lol, I was one of them. I'm straight but you would have to be blind not to recognise Alexander Sarsgård's looks.

Sofia Vergara is very attractive and all, but Yvonne Strahovski has a certain je ne sais quoi which only really comes across if you watch the series (Chuck) and I think she should have won.

If thats the case then I would have to compare the final third of 24 this season to a Lovers' delight. Imagine a dessert for two, Tahitian vanilla-bean ice-cream in a pool of cognac, drizzled in the world’s most expensive chocolate, Amedei Boselliana, covered with shaved white, black and clear truffles, and topped with edible 25-carat gold leaf. Can you imagine anything better?!!:D

To be fair the entire season was very strong apart from about 4-5 episodes mid-season and the Jenny Scott storyline. And the final 8 or so hours was possible some of the best television I have ever seen.

I've never really udnerstood the term 'underrated'. Doesn't it mean lots of people see it and go "It's not bad" when in fact it's fantastic as opposed to not many people having seen it but winning loads of awards?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,780 ✭✭✭JohnK

I've always taken Underrated to mean people might be aware of it but they just havent given it a chance. They know the name of the show but the name doesnt grab them or the trailer/ad didnt appeal to them, the actors dont strike them as being suited to the show it appears to be etc.

Underrated is used by forum elitists who use the term to brow beat other forum posters and hail said "underrated" show as so-called "quality tv".

I agree, Dunno how Glee got into the kids category, but Quizone is the best thing on RTE - hope it comes back.

The kids start off as best buddies, but then make no effort to conceal their disdain for each other as the problems develop. Like when the runners invariably mess up, or when they are given a ridiculous answer.

This searing honesty was sadly lacking in the Crystal Maze and other similar programmes.

well accoridng to these results, Spartacus is massively underrated, the best show in probably the last 3 years and not one single award, wtf,

its was probably a hard one this year with 24 and lost finnishing and 14 seasons between them, 24 obviously edged it with it brilliant runin, doesnt make lost any poorer in my opinion,

personally with the addition of shows like glee and modern family winning top awards make 2010 look extremely dissapointing compared to 2009, i gave both shows a few eps to grow on me and thought both were poor actor wise, but the single camera/ documetary style of modern family i really really hate that type of show, i tried to like it but dont think ill be trying any more of these types of shows, and glee was just tripe i though with the main actress just being terrible, how evangeline lilly got worst actress with someone like that around baffles the mind,

My favourite part is when they get lost in the zone and start going the wrong way - stupid kids... :D

Anyone who thinks Evangeline Lilly is a bad actress obviously doesn't watch much television.

    Oh and Yvonne was robbed.

She was left out of much of the last few seasons of LOST I blame the writers, her character was very well written in seasons 1 and 2.

I blame the writers for shoving Kate down our throats for no good reason.

I just have to throw this in because it sums up perfectly why Kate sucks
