Players should be suspended over it IMO.

He should be charged his comp fee also.

No. Instead you are disqualified if no one marked and signed your card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,798 ✭✭✭Mister Sifter

Yeah, you'll get 0.1 back for that. You'll come up on the system as NR. The thing to have done would have been to write on a card that you were unable to play due to partners not showing up, and sticking it in the scorecards box. I would still recommend chasing it up with the handicap and match secretary.

Be sure and give them the names of the persons who didn't show.

Another reason to contact the respective secretaries is that, if your club operates a banning system for those who NR, then you could also be marked down for a ban (unless you NRed on the computer after you signed in initially).

there was a 2 ball half an hour away from my tee time , but i would have been bad company to play with after getting stranded, decided to crack on on my own didnt fancy waiting around .

Great name for a thread!!!!!!!!!!!I can understand why...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,016 ✭✭✭Zardoz

Before the online timesheets you could be disciplined by the club for switching times/canceling at short notice ,it became quite a heated debate at my club.
With the online booking though ,people are taking the mick ,just chopping and changing at will .

It's easy to see why they cancelled.

In another thread you've said you shouldn't start a round you don't intend to finish, surely the exact same principle applies. Don't put your name on the timesheet if you're not going to show up, simples. And a phone call to cancel would take all of 20 seconds. It's incredibly bad form imo.

Not quite the same thing, afaik someone who does not show up for a tee time does not affect CSS and can not get .1 back.
Yea there is no doubt it's bad form, but it's possible they had a good reason as to why they were unable to make it and if the OP can only think of his own minor inconvenience, then who is the real inconsiderate prik?.

Does that include the numbskulls who lose their tiny minds when they get stood up on the tee and are grammatically challenged.

Not ringing and cancelling is pretty inconsiderate, no doubt.
    But......

    What you did:
    1) Learn that your playing partners did not turn up.
    2) Get ridiculously angry at them for not showing up. Stomp around a bit.
    3) Get so angry that you cant wait half an hour so you tee off on your own.
    4) Realise that you cant not play in the competition, so you get even angrier.
    5) Finish your completely non relaxing game of golf still fuming.
    6) Go home, post on an internet forum about how mad you are at the no shows.

    What you should have done:
    1) Learn that your playing partners did not turn up.
    2) Get a bit angry...take a deep breadth and tell yourself "I will not let this ruin my day"
    3) Go into the pro shop and report the no shows.
    4) Wait the 20/30 minutes and tee off with the next available two ball.
    5) Play in the competition. Good or bad, enjoy your relaxing game of golf.
    6) Go home unwound and get on with your evening.

    7) You can still post about the lack of consideration in no shows, but with less anger in the soul.

Seriously, you only had to wait half an hour.

Ah jimbling , here are the facts..
    1) learn that playing partner did not turn up
    2) there was no stomping around , i was pissed off but im not 5.
    3) i didnt have the luxury of a half an hour to wait around.
    4) played 9 holes on my own , didnt enjoy it, who does on there own,
    5) did report it in the club house.
    6) posted it up here, to let everyone here who does it know that its not on ,that it affects other people
your above post paints me as some sort of spoiled brat throwing his rattler out of the pram, i can assure you thats not the case.
my attitude is like my swing "sweet"
