Hi Eileen, I wasn't quite sure where, I was thinking a quiet cafe and see how many turns up and then rent a room in the library for a hour or so. Maybe once a month. Doesn't look like there are many that interested!!

What level of experience are you looking for? I'm a bit of a beginner but would be interested in similar or more experienced writers to meet/discuss/share writing techniques and work.

I do plan on attending a few courses over the next 6 months if this is for intermediates/experts only.

We should all do it! How about we all meet next month sometimes? mid July? No experience necessary! It's just so we can help each other, make sure we stick to writing and stuff like that! We can get feedback on each others writing too.

There is no age limit for talent my dear! No sure it's for creative input.
Write something. I'm going to bring along some of my short stories. I have done screenwriters courses, writing courses etc! I am writing two novels at the mo and some short stories. Everyone is welcome. I was thinking of bringing along short stories competition information and details about writing/grants. Depending on what type of stuff everyone write. It will just be great to meet up with fellow writers!

Hey Everyone. I am thinking 19th of July and location maybe IFI cafe, what time would suit everyone? I think it would be a good locations, to meet everyone, decided what we wanna do with the writing group etc. What does everyone think??

Like Inkslinger and Robbyn (sounds like a dynamic duo if ever there was one) I have very little or no experience but do plan on pursuing a writing course in the near future. Can I be counted in at the IFI on 19th July? What time are we talking?

Just as a side note, I will need to confirm availability for 19th due to unconfirmed commitments but can definitely make the next one...if there is one! Fingers X'ed

Evening time anytime suits due to work - anything after 6pm is fine with me.

Once again, I have to stress, I may not make this meeting on the 19th due to unconfirmed commitments but if it continues I will be there - I will confirm closer to that date! Thanks!

Hi Guys,

I'd be interested too...I'm interested in starting to write again. I used to in the past but with work and all I've let writing slip. I think a group would be a great way to get back in the swing of things again.

How would the group work i.e. would we all need to bring something we've written along?

A group is a great support network . You don't have to bring anything! There are no rules. I was thinking the first meeting we can just decide what we want to do. I am going to bring a small sample of my writing, but nobody has to bring their writing. Come along!!

Excellent...I think I will. Stupid question I know but should we be wearing roses on our lapel or something to know who's who? Hate walking in to places looking for people or are there only a few seats down the back of the IFI?

Hey all, I'd love to get involved in this unless there's a limit to the number of people due to meet? I have very little experience with creative writing-apart from random streams of consciousness but would love to have a group to help with motivation/meet some creative people?

No group limit, meeting at IFI cafe! I was going to see who comes along and then see about getting a room in library for the following month. No experience nesscersary! just creativity . This first meeting is just gonna be a relaxed way to meet fellow writers and get some imput. You can bring some writing with you if you like? but you don't have too! IT's IFI Cafe, 19th of July about 6ish

Maybe someone should write "Boards Writing Group" on an A4 page and slap it onto a table to let everyone know.

I think IFI cafe might look at me strangely if I stick something on their tables! I'll be looking out for everyone and waving a pen madly .

I've just heard back from the powers that be and unfortunately, I won't be able to make this meeting on the 19th. In fact, Mondays are out for me totally due to this circumstance.

I don't like to ask, if Monday suits all concerned but, is there a chance the meeting could be rearranged to another day of the week to accommodate a poor, oppressed soul and his thumb-like ruler? (Yes, I do actually go out with a giant thumb)

I don't think there is much interest in changing the day so there's no problem leaving the current group and meeting time in place. I would like to get a course under my belt anyway before discussing with others who are looking for feedback or input on their work.

You can count me out of this group and I will be in touch in future if the group continues to work together and my circumstances change. I shall be keeping my eyes on this thread as it progresses.
