Streaming Video Apps on 3gs with iOS4...

I have an iphone 3gs and recently downloaded the 'AirVideo' app which allows you to stream video files from a shared folder on a PC to the phone. Which in turn, allows you to watch them on a TV with an AV cable.

However, according to the AirVideo web site, iOS4 no loger allows 3rd party apps to use the video out function on the phone?!

I've heard of another app , 'StreamToMe' which does the same thing and the description on the app store says it works with OS3 or greater?

I'm confused and I don't want to update to the new OS until some app developer finds a way around this.

Can anyone shed some light on this?
