Weights - A Few Tips?

    Hi hows it going? I got myself a set of weights yesterday and I'm trying to get a beginner program together for myself so that using them will tone up as many parts of my body as can reasonably be done.

    I've been watching a lot of videos on youtube about posture, breathing, & techniques and I think I have a good beginners program together for myself but I'd like some advice in case you more knowledgeable peoples see I'm making mistakes ;)

    I have 2 barbell's and a dumbbell. I have 1.25kg & 2.5kg weights but the 2.5kg weights are easy to hold so I'd assume it's safe to begin with those, unless they are too weak :o

    Do a warmup.

    Shoulders:
    15 Lateral shoulder raises
    15 Dumbbell shoulder presses

    Biceps:
    Dumbbell Biceps curl (Seated or Standing w/ a hammer variation)

    Triceps:
    French Triceps press

    (This one does biceps and triceps).

    Wrist:
    Forearm curls

    Standing barbell curl

    Some Dumbbell squats

    Some Barbell squats

    Some general squats

    Some Dumbbell lunges

    Dumbbell Stiff Leg Deadlifts

    I think working through these in variation over the next weeks would lead to some toning up, what would be the opinions of you guys? I'd love to hear :)

    At quick glance, I'd re-arrange the order of some of the exercises, into a more logical sequence, start with your biggest muscles and do something like legs, back, chest, shoulders and then arms.

    The weights are very light so you should progress very quickly, especially for the likes of the leg work. The wall squats you linked to will be good for technique and also maybe take a look at goblet squats.

    Crank up the intensity by reducing the rest periods, do them in sets or as a circuit but ultimately concentrate on your form and increasing the weight.

    jasus some of those videos show terrible form - deadlift one being the obvious.

    focus on the basics and really get good at just body weight exercises first
