Great film; one of the Coen Brothers' best. Superb acting, superb characters, funny as hell...

A huge, huge HUGE... 'YAY' from me anyway!!!:D

Baring one or two exceptions, I've never liked anything the Coens have done. This one seems to be their masterpiece but is also the one I like the least. It's just too spun out and random, like some sort of narrative diarrhea. It just annoys me when I try to watch it. The same thing for anything Jason Reitman has done, except he doesn't any exceptions.

i wouldve though either no country for old men or fargo would be considered their masterpiece by most and not this

personally my favourites of theirs would be this, o brother where art thou and fargo, not in specific order

Have to say, they are excellent film makers but I didn't like "Brother where are thou". All the rest are very good. Maybe its because I hate George Clooney but what can you do?

Still find Blood Simple to be their most acomplished piece of work. I think the story's perfect, I think the acting's perfect, the Burwell score, everything. The ending is the nuts too. Everything else from them is a bit behind for me.

So Blood Simple > Fargo > A Serious Man > Raising Arizona > Everything else >>>>> Burn After Reading

Not all that mad on their work but at least they've got a distinctive style, even if it isn't to my liking.

    ha :D

they can tend to go a bit overboard with the quirky sense of humour, like in burn after reading for example

Your revolution is over, Mr. Lebowski. Condolences. The bums lost. My advice is to do what your parents did; get a job, sir. The bums will always lose.

    gotta love it.

Knox Harrington? The man with the cleft a$$hole?

the Dude asks the Auto Circus Cop if there are any leads on who stole his beater car] Leads? yeah, sure. I'll just check with the boys down at the crime lab, they've got four more detectives working on the case. They got us working in shifts!

Donny was a good bowler, and a good man. He was one of us. He was a man who loved the outdoors... and bowling, and as a surfer he explored the beaches of Southern California, from La Jolla to Leo Carrillo and... up to... Pismo. He died, like so many young men of his generation, he died before his time. In your wisdom, Lord, you took him, as you took so many bright flowering young men at Khe Sanh, at Langdok, at Hill 364. These young men gave their lives. And so would Donny. Donny, who loved bowling. And so, Theodore Donald Karabotsos, in accordance with what we think your dying wishes might well have been, we commit your final mortal remains to the bosom of the Pacific Ocean, which you loved so well. Good night, sweet prince.

"Fortunately, I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug, uh, regimen to keep my mind, you know, uh, limber. "

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

Put the Youtube link inbetween [*youtube][/youtube] tags (take out the star before youtube), but only include the actual video part of the link (i.e in this case, iApz08Bh53w)

DUDE: Hey, is this him with Nancy?

BRANDT: That is indeed Mr. Lebowski with the first lady, yes, taken when-

    DUDE: Lebowski on the right?

BRANDT: Of course, Mr. Lebowski on the right, Mrs. Reagan on the left, taken when-

    DUDE: He's handicapped, huh?

BRANDT: Mr. Lebowski is disabled, yes. And this picture was taken when Mrs. Reagan was first lady of the nation.

    DUDE: Far out.

BRANDT: And in fact he met privately with the President, though unfortunately there wasn't time for a photo opportunity.

    DUDE: Nancy's pretty good.

I've watched it four times and each time I find a few new little jokes that I missed the previous time. I'm reluctant to watch it again because I don't want it to get boring!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,976 ✭✭✭Brendog

Possibly the funniest moment!!!........When The Dude is drink + drug driving and watching out to see if the Blue VW beetle is following him.

He then sthe joint which bounces off the closed window onto his crotch and starts burning him....and while screaming in a girly high-pitched voice he crashes into a dumpster.

I think someone put the video of it up on page 2

    The DUDE ABIDES!!!:D:D:D

I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

A classic of our time. Love it.

Just watched this again there, excellent film. Jeff Bridges was born to play The Dude, this film just need to prove it.

Walter Sobchak: Fùcking dipshìt with a nine toed woman. :D

    The Dude abides!

The Dude: ****in' Quintana... that creep can roll, man.
Walter Sobchak: Yeah, but he's a pervert, Dude.
    The Dude: Yeah.
Walter Sobchak: No, he's a sex offender. With a record. He served 6 months in Chino for exposing himself to an eight year old.
    The Dude: Oh!
Walter Sobchak: When he moved to Hollywood he had to go door to door to tell everyone he was a pederast.
    Donny: What's a... pederast, Walter?
Walter Sobchak: Shut the **** up, Donny.
