Training Arms? Wasting your time

I firmly believe that training arms is a waste of time. I have been training for heavy for 7 years now and hate seeing people in the gym wasting their time on ridiculous arm excercises.

The reality is if you are hitting your chest and your back heavy enough, as the arms are the levers for these excercises, it really negates any real benefit of curls, puldowns etc.

i constantly read on this ite about people doing 20 mins bi' or tri's after specific workouts and find it hilarious that with all the supposed experienced trainers on here no one ever seems to correct them.

Sure doing 4 x 10 curls may have some minute benefit but if your goal is build, big strong and sculted arms, go heavy on your chest and back and stop wasting your time isolating tiny muscles.

Your time is much better spent putting maximum effort into your larger areas and as a direct result your smaller areas will grow.

I have seen a few mentions of this matter recently.

    Must be the weather.

    Why not do both?

Experienced and "big" trainers often do curls not because of the benefit but because of the way it feels. Its an ego trip when you have big arms, im often guilty of it if i feel i just want a pump. But at this point i know i dont get any growth out of doing it.

    Awesome.
    Well thanks for the speech.
There are clearly some good intentions there.

Never seen anyone on this forum say they do 20 mins of bi's and tri's. Also I suppose the 3/4 inch of growth I've had in my arms in the past 12 weeks wasn't due to the direct arm training I added in, but instead....um a lunar eclipse caused it.

    Doubtful.
Hasn't been one of them since last year.

    Worst. Postulation. Ever.

Not this again. I'm so glad I'm on my iPhone cos I'd be going on a serious rant otherwise.

Training a muscle to make it grow... How ridiculous.

I don't do curls because I get a searing pain up my forearms so I do pull-ups instead.

I kinda despise the ego-driven nature of the typical gym goer but would be lying if I said I wouldn't want to do curls.

*Waits for someone to recommend ez bar*

try pinwheels, if its the lower/back of your forearms that are giving you trouble this variation might help, I really like them.

You know what, f*k this. In ending this bull**** myth once and for all. Go find pictures of Matt Kroczaleski from the recent BB comp he did. Look at his arms in comparison to everything else and tell me he hasn't suffered for not training then directly.

Tits, why didn't someone tell me sooner. I've been too cool for bicep curls in recent years. Fella showed me a way to do them only last night. I'd post up what he said only I'd be bloody castigated for doing too many reps or something.
