Hi guys i was very sick about a fortnight ago wit a mystery illness during which i couldnt eat properly and ended up losing just under a stone in weight which is just terrrible. I am a keen user of the gym and i would know a good bit about weights and nutrition etc..just wondering like what some of ye would think are the best supplements to use?....i used whey protein before and found it good and creatine for recovery and speed is useful too..i was thinking of trying cyclone this time around but never used it before...anyone have experince with it?

Just eat and exercise normally. A whey and glucose shake after heavy lifting will help. But don't insist on putting back the stone in a month, or you may find that most of that stone is fat rather than muscle.

Your body will have a good idea what to do, and you'll probably find you are hungrier than usual.

You bet your bottom dollar it would be. I'm pretty sure a kilo of muscle a month (without adding lots of fat) is good going.

Eat lots of protein, red meat should do the trick. If you're a vegetarian buy protein shakes. They are relatively cheap for the quantity you'll get

A lot of the stone you lost was probably water/fluid loss. I remember a mate of mine saying he lost over a stone after a bad dose of diarrhoea but put it back on in no time.

In theory to lose 1lb of fat means a deficit of 3,500kcal, so 1 stone/14lb means a deficit of 49,000kcal. You mentioned a fortnight so that would mean a deficit of 3500kcal per day for 14 days. I seriously doubt you managed this.

Keep up your fluid intake to replace what was lost, fruit & veg has a fair bit of water, soups, and plenty of water in general.
