Read the ingredients on the stuff. The second one is always sugar, and sometimes the first one is. It's full of strange non-food ingredients that you really don't want, and somehow, they've managed to combine all that sugar and stuff into bars and shakes that taste really nasty!

They were doing a lot of sample tasting in my local Boots, and there wasn't a single one I liked enough to finish the sample, never mind be tempted to spend money on. They have a sugarfree jelly that is three times the price of the ones in ordinary supermarkets, and even that manages to be nasty.

When I spoke to one of the reps about the amount of sugar, in what they claim is a low carb system, I was told "Some of our clients are so addicted to sugar that you can't cut them off cold turkey or they'd feel ill, so we are weaning them down gradually. We hope that eventually, they can eat proper meals without sugar."

I reckon, skip the "Weaning down" and just eat proper meals.

There is research to show that replacing an occasional meal with a whey shake can help with weight loss. But I'd buy a proper whey powder and add only the ingredients you like. All health food shops carry whey, just find one you like.

As a starting point, most people over in the Fitness forum rave about the different flavours of ON whey. And there's a new company based in Cork called Kinetica which makes very nice whey.

I tried the toffee shake for lunch yesterday - quite the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted - a sort of rancid fat/cardboardy pungent taste, alongside a chemical toffee flavour. Made the veg soup for evening meal & it had a sweet old-book-smell flavour (!) so I threw it out too. I've used lots of these meal replacements over the years & found other brands quite acceptable - some of the shakes can be quite delicious, so not sure why this brand is so obnoxious !

I'm glad it's not just me who thinks they are horrible. Frankly, I can't see them doing well, just because the stuff is nasty.

Welcome to Tony Ferguson live chat. An advisor will be with you shortly.
You are now chatting with Kylie.N.
Kylie.N: Welcome to Tony Ferguson Weightloss, my name is Kylie , how can I help you?
    Tony: Hi, Kylie.
Kylie.N: How may I assist you today?
Tony: I started the program 9 days ago. I have lost 8 lb. I am male, 63, 5' 7.5" and weighed-in @ 116.3kg. I am now 112.6 Kg and very happy to have started this programme with you. However, I have to ask 2 questions. 1) Fibre. I have 1 shake for breakfast, & a shake for lunch. How should I take my daily ration of fibre?
Kylie.N: You can have your 2 teaspoons in either of your shakes or you can split it into the two. Its up to you.
Tony: Thanks, I'll try that. Question 2) The taste of the Vanilla & Cafe-Latte shakes are just great, however, there is a certain 'note' to the smell of Chicken Soup, Veg Soup, Chocolate shakes, and a less but still noticeable 'note' to the smell of Chocolate Mint and Wild Berry shakes (at least that's what I've noticed so far). This 'note' is strongly reminiscent of vegetable oil. Hasn't this problem been reported to you before? It seems that you have a great system in place, let down just a little by these 2 staples to your program (Soups and Shakes - which have a v. short shelf life). This IS a candid question, but a genuine one. I want to carry on, but need to drink/consume replacement soups and shakes which don't put me off. Any suggestions?
Kylie.N: There are great recipes on the website for shake and soup variations these recipes change the taste of the sachets.
Kylie.N: I can't say that I have heard that complaint before about the smell to the sachets, but will pass this onto management.
Kylie.N: You may also like to add some essence to your shakes to try change the flavour a little and adding your low GI veg and herbs and spices to the soups can really help.
Kylie.N: I have not heard from you in a while. Are you still there?
Tony: To your first answer (great recipes...): OK. So, if I was to just buy vanilla and cafe-latte shakes, and add some flavouring (Sugar-free & 'safe', of course) to the vanilla shakes, I could get by, then stick to the programme in all other respects. Thanks.
    Kylie.N: Glad I could help.
Kylie.N: Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Tony: yes - dont go away - ill be back in a mo.
Kylie.N: I have not heard from you in a while. Are you still there?
Tony: Yes - I am - Sorry - I got a call from a colleague at work. Next:To your 2nd answer: Can I help with this? I am about to buy another week's supply of shakes. If I get one (say chocolate) and it has this noticeable 'note' that I'm banging on about, I'll re-seal it, and send it on to your UK office. I'll do this only after getting one or two second opinions about its odour. Is that fair enough?
Tony: By the way, I have bought these sachets from Boots the Chemist in the UK at Leeds, Chesterfield and Nottingham.
Kylie.N: One moment and I will speak with my manager.
Kylie.N: There is a small portion of vegetable oil in each of the sachets. Because of different flavours the smell may be more noticeable in other flavours.
Tony: Is that your final answer?
Kylie.N: I'm sorry this was not the answer you wanted to hear.
Kylie.N: We have recieved positive feedback with regards to our soup and shake sachets.
    Kylie.N: However
Kylie.N: We appreciate that everyone is different and not all sachet flavours will suit everybody.
Tony: Thankyou for your assistance with these questions. In part, I am happy to know how I can take my Fibre, and how I can flavour those shakes (and possibly soups I have not yet tried) which I personally find acceptable. With regard to the sachet flavours that don't suit me, I'll stay away from them for now. Thanks again & Goodbye for now.:pac:

Boots are promoting this because they can make money from it by buying things from the amazing range of food products that Tony has specially designed and created just for you. There must be something wrong with real food?

The more you buy the more money Tony and Boots make. It's commercialising fruit and veg and other basic food products, it's stuff you dont really need but are been told you do.
