I'm still hungry!

    Hi everybody,
I'm looking for a bit of help and advice.

I'm trying to lose about 10lbs - maybe a bit more but I'll assess the situation when I get those 10lbs knocked off me!

My diet for the past few days has looked like this..

Breakfast - 20g porridge, made with low fat milk with a glass of Berrocca. Or 2 smoked rashers with a glass of Berocca.
    Mid-morning - Apple
Lunch - Homemade soup or a salad(no meat)
    Mid-afternoon - Apple
Dinner - Veg stir-fry with rice noodles, Baked Garlic salmon with veg and rice noodles, stir fry beef with ginger and chilli with rice noodles.

I drink about 2l of water every day.

My problem is that between mid-afternoon and dinner I am absolutely starving! Not in the 'ohh, I'm a little bit hungry' kind of way but the 'MUST EAT FOOD NOW' way! I don't know whether I'm eating too little (ha!) or if I'm just getting used to not snacking on sweets, sandwiches (mmmm panini) during the day. Yesterday before my dinner I ate two bowls of cornflakes (not great I know) to banish my hunger.

Does anybody have any suggestions for me? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

You are definitely eating to little. Unless you're tiny.
20g of porridge is only a half portion or less.
You must be having less than 1000cals, really not enough.

Get some good protein and fats with EVERY meal. If you're trying to lean out you should be getting 1g per lb bodyweight of protein every day. ie. if you're 200lb you need to be eating 200g of protein. That will have a massive effect on your hunger levels.

If you want to lose weight the hunger method isn't the way to go. You'll just get hungry and eat custard creams.

Not surprised you are staving. I know toddlers who eat more than that.

Add in more protein and some good fats (see Khannie's post) to all sit down meals, especially your lunch. Homemade salad or veg soup is probably less than 100 cals for the entire meal. And you wonder why you are hungry afterwards?

You should probably be having some protein with your lunch, maybe you could throw some ham or tuna into your salad. Just a salad for your lunch isn't very filling so I'm not surprised you're hungry soon after.

It's already been said, but 20g of porridge isn't enough to start your day. Even with the milk it's barely over 100 calories.

By lunchtime you've had no significant source of protein and you're almost certainly at < 400 calories. By dinner time you're definitely at < 500 calories!!!! It really is no wonder you're starving.

Eat more for sure. 50g of porridge made with water is still under 200 calories and enough to put a warm smile on your belly. Maybe add in a boiled egg too. Total is then 260 calories and with your apple in the middle you're gonna last 'til lunch feeling pretty decent.

Add some meat or fish or other source of protein to your lunch.

    Have a larger mid-afternoon snack.

I would suggest ditching the noodles with dinner too or just have a biscuit afterwards instead. Noodles and biscuits are more or less equally crap but biscuits are substantially more delicious. :D

More veg and / or more fish / meat would be better instead of course.

    Thanks guys.

When I actually wrote out what I was eating, I realised that it wasn't a lot. I'm going to increase my breakfast and protein at my meals. I'm not really a meat fan, but I supposed I'll just have to get to like it. Thanks again.

20g protein is a tiny amount. Are you weighing this or just guessing.
If you are guessing, buy a scales.
