So if you were to just have one last dinner (you're on death row or something) and you get the chance to have whatever dinner you want - what would you have?

A proper roast Chicken dinner, all the trimmings, home made gravy, drooooool :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,553 ✭✭✭Banned Account

Take the breat meat off of a roast chicken, lightly fry some finely chopped onions and crushed garlic. Add a glass of Chablis and reduce down to half, then add some sliced chestnut mushrooms, the chicken and some fresh Tarragon.

Add a half pint of fresh cream and a hand full of freshly grated Parmesan, turn down the heat and leave to simmer for 5 mins, Cook some fresh egg pasta, stir an egg yolk into the sauce and serve over the pasta with a sprinking of parmesan and black pepper.

Then enjoy with the rest of the Chablis.

Supernachos or a Chimichanga from a Taqueria in Salinas, Califnoria.

Failing that, my mammy's dinner of:
    spare ribs for starters,
T-bone steak with garlic potatoes for main,
    homemade profiteroles for desert.

    A Christmas dinner.

Having thought about it I have narrowed it down to

    1) Pork belly with carmelised onion gravy and mashed potatoes
    2) Rib eye steak medium with red wine jus and mashed potatoes / crispy onion rings with a skewer of juicy jumbo prawns or lobster with garlic/coriander sauce.

    Yum!

Ps. Have to have melting middle chocolate pudding with vanilla icecream for dessert. NOM!

Death row, you say? A pie with guns baked into it, smoke(bomb) salmon and some sort of invisibility cloak... drink.

Although I like a feed as much as anybody, I don't really get people who rhapsodize about food.

I'd ask for a sandwich and try and barter some extra phone calls or good bye meetings with the saved time.

Here's a list of last meals

    Pointless and kinda sad.

Odds are though, if you're on death row you've been there for a number of years - plenty of time to say goodbye while eating shíte food - I say eat like there's no tomorrow....because there isn't :D

I'm going home this weekend, I can't wait for my mammy's dinners. Anything she makes is my favourite!

Last meals are a vain attempt to make those about to kill you feel better about themselves. I'd turn it on it's head and have my last meal shared out amongst the other inmates, or given instead to homeless people ala Philip Workman

I do like a steak dinner though

If I were on death row I'd have
To start: Gyoza (fried/steamed Japanese dumplings)
For Main: Shellfish platter with homemade oven chips
    Dessert: Vanilla panna cotta

    But my favourite ever is:
A big feed of me mammy's skirt and kidney stew with crusty bread to mop up the juice, and a pot of tea.

    Lasagne and Chips.

Roast Lamb, Potatoes, Carrots, Broccoli and Gravy.

    Toss up between

Pork steak stuffed with a black pudding, cayenne, sage and sausage stuffing, drizzled with apple sauce and serve with roasties.

    Or

Seared fillet steak with a balsamic and Madeira wine reduction infused with rosemary and served with a cauliflower mash (cauliflower, white cheddar, cream, horseradish, cracked black pepper and potato) with some parsnip crisps on the side.

Mams meatball marinara. She is a god at Italian cooking.
Also: medium-rare steak, Worcheshire sauce + soy sauce + baked potatoes with cream cheese and fried mushrooms = WIN.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,073 ✭✭✭Rubberlegs

Fillet steak, cremated, coated in extra spicy cajun seasoning, with potato gratin and all the veg. Or Thai prawn curry:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 253 ✭✭gingelion

Either a good old stew or some venison steaks with mashed potatoes and gravy with worcestershire sauce in it. Mmmm.

Maybe next time i make a stew i should put venison in it instead of beef and add the worcestershire sauce. yeah, thats somethin i'm gonna do.
