Equipment Removed from gym?

I've been training in my local hotel gym for roughly 3 years, 2 years as a full member and the 1st as a pay as I went..
For the past few months the gym has started looking messy, dirty and a few of the machines have also started to suffer from really poor maintenance.
It has come to head in the last 3 weeks as I came down in the morning as I always do and found that the flat bench, bench press obviously, has been removed..... so I ignore it, may be it was for maintenance I hoped.

A week later still no sign so I ask the reception where it is, the response was "it wasn't ours, a member was leaving it there so he could use it with the Olympic weights". I obviously asked, when are you replacing it, to the response of "well the Hotel isn't spending any money so I'm really not sure"

What a load of bollox, it's been three weeks now and have been unable to flat bench properly, I've asked again and also stated that people are using the really thin benches and the squat rack to do flat bench, which in my opinion is dangerous as the back support isn't wide enough when benching with heavier weights. I actually pointed this out and was told "Oh I know that of course...." What the hell does that mean???

My argument here is that I joined this gym with the knowledge that it was fully equipped with all sorts of equipment INCLUDING a good quality flat bench and now there is not one.... should I have grounds for a well founded complaint?

Do not name and shame on a public forum

However. If you have a problem with your membership i would raise it to managemt of the hotel as you may have grounds for a cancelation.

just a query? as i don't understand the reasoning behind this warning...

providing factual information about gym facilities is one of the helpful parts of this forum... why would naming the gym not be allowed...

if something is rumor or speculation fair enough, but a statement of fact is just that... i don't see anything in the forum rules that prohibit the naming of a specific gym... there are frequent posts here about issues in various gyms named on this forum in relation to equipment, staff or member behavior and I've never seen anyone highlight/warn about those before...

The reason i said this is the OP seems to have taken his argument to the hotel staff and as i suggested managment and ongoing duscussin with managment is prob not best hashed out on a public forum until it is resolved most of the other posts here are not related to ongoing discussions with staff/managment. There is nothing in the forum rules about it. and i didnt give the OP and infraction or an offical warning.

yeah i hear ya, i'm all for not getting a blow by blow of their personal interactions too :)

I was asking why the gym name couldn't be mentioned... it's pretty much a daily occurrence on here?

It depends imo. Do they include the bench in a list of equiptment when advertising the gym?or if u got a tour of the gym?

Noffles just get everyone on board in the gym.
If they have twenty or thirty people complaining they'll fork out for one.
Do you have any other gym options down there?

That's complete nonsense. Of course you can mention the name of the gym. Exchanging views and information about particular establishments is the whole purpose of these forums! The only thing you can't do legally is to defame someone by spreading false and malicious information about them, but that's a completely different thing altogether (and an offence that's hard to commit as long as you make it clear you are talking about personal judgements/opinions)!

    Hi tomdublin

flywheel above queried my origional statment, because of flywheels query we have raised this with boards legal gurus and im awaiting a reply back. We are not 100% sure if naming the gym would be classed as defaming the gym. Im even more cautious of this as its a hotel gym and therefore would be a hotel brand.Unfortunately you cannot be too careful these days.

I will update here when i hear back from admin on the legal side of it.

Im going to close this till i get clarification from admins. If anyone has any questions on my decision please pm me.

    Thanks

    TD
