Gym program

I recently discovered that the gym in the town is doing an unemployed rate, not to join but just to go down and use the gym/pool.

The thing I don't get is a program, so I've come here. I'll only be using the gym one day a week and will probably stay in there for ages (get my money worth) I've decided to do a 10min warm up on the bike and then 20-30min on the x-trainer, I like those two, I like the rowing machines but it tends to get at my knees too easy. I don't like the treadmill too, I don't know why, I just get bored on it.

What I do love is the weight machines, I don't know what's down there but it looked like a fairly decent gym, not the best but looks to have most things.

After all that I was thinking about going for a swim(really get my moneys worth)

I'm not really looking for any results, I'm really doing this for something to do and I like the gym. Saying that I wouldn't argue with some weight loss, strength, stamina but the main thing I think would be my mood.

I want to spend a good amount of time in the gym, but don't know what to do there.

    Hi There

If you have time on your hands this coming Saturday, you could do worse than drop into RAW Gym on South Richmond St.

g'em one of the forum moderators and a young lady who lifts weights competitively is giving a ladies only introduction to weight lifting.

g'em is in amazing shape, so you will see that lifting weights will not turn you into a female version of Arnie :) and also you will get top notch coaching on what to do in the gym to get the most from the time you spend there.

The afternoon is free. See here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=66340658#post66340658

and drop g'em a pm if you are interested.

    Best Regards,

    M

This would definitely be well worth your while, g'em is a brilliant coach and RAW is a great gym to train in. I think this Sat is booked up, but far as I know they're doing another one soon.

If you can't make the weightlifting, try this site stumptuous.com

They have workout routines and lots of advice, but drop the machines and get to the free weights, better in every way.

    Hi There

Sorry OP, didn't realize that g'em's session on Saturday was booked out.

You could also have a look at Transforms site and have a look at some of the routines his female clients do. Would be great for ideas.

    See http://thetransformationcatalyst.wordpress.com/category/amazing-transformations/

You could also think about booking a session with a PT (funds permitting of course) who could develop a routine for you, which you could then do when you are in your gym. Just a thought.

You should definitely keep an eye out for g'em running a second session.

    Best Regards,

    M

It is but strength training is an equal opportunities endeavour, no real difference between men and women's training.

Thank you, I'm going to have a proper look at the websites in a bit.

As for g'ems thing I wouldn't be able to go to that even if there was spaces.

I can't afford a pt, I can barely even afford to go to the gym and that's only a fiver.

I was going to go this morning but my leg was sore last night and this morning and I know I would have barely done anything this morning so I'm going to go on friday morning.
