Fitness Trainer Questions

Hello, i wonder if someone would be so kind as to answer a few basic questions please ...

My wife is pregnant, 3rd kid, 2 months left and she will be looking to get into shape again - the thing is - since this is the last kid we'll have (more than likely :D) i want to give her all the chances to get into proper shape this time cos i know how hard she worked at it last 2 times and it helps her confidence etc, looks good feels good etc ... she was very happy to hear this when i mentioned it to her last night but was concerned how to go about it as we both live busy lives - obviously.

    So, the questions :
    - how do i find a reliable personal trainer for her?
    - what timeline does she need to follow, pregnancy out of the way etc.
    - how long does it take with an average person to get them on the straight and narrow (with the coach i mean, not to get onto shape - before the coach moves on), average here i understand everyone is different.
    - i am more concerned about her diet habits, nutritional information etc rather than killing herself in the gym etc. Are there plans for people who do not have gym access or is it a necessity?
    - what costs am i looking at here?

    Any other advice really appreciated.

    Cheers.

    Hi There

Personally I would recomend that if she can she should have a chat with a PT who posts on these forums, His forum name is "Transform" and I reckon that he would get her the results she wants.

Check out his website at http://thetransformationcatalyst.wordpress.com/

Have a look at the "Amazing Transformations" link and you will see lots of ladies who work out with Transform and are in super shape.

    Best Regards,

    M

I dunno if this is quite what i am looking for though, seems very gym orientated. If not, very hardcore ;) ... anyone got anything else to offer or recommend? Prices too? What would i be looking at to sign up for clases like these? Or something similaR?

BTW - thats in Sandyford - no good to me, gotta be local i guess, or personal trainer that would tavel to meet her ? Perhaps? Living in Lucan.

Gym Orientated: Well the workout sessions take place is Transforms own gym

Hardcore: Definately not. Here is a video of Transform putting a lady who is post pregnancy through a workout.

This is something that your wife could do at home with little or no equipment and just check in with transform to have her progress assessed and routine tweaked so she continues to achieve the results she wants. Then when she get confident enought she can continue on her own either at home or joining a gym.

    Just an idea.

Here is another video of a lady post pregnancy working on getting back into shape

    http://www.icechamber.com/videos/mgcomeback1.html

Again a lot of the exercises shown here could eb done at home with mimimal equipment.

However the end result will depend on the investment made. The sweat and energy invested the greater the rewards.

cheers for the recommendation and the OP needs to have a look at this post i did on some of my post preg clients -

    http://thetransformationcatalyst.wordpress.com/2009/12/22/post-pregnancy-training/

At all times of the year i am dealing with a pregnant or post pregnant client - just had a session with one that is 8 weeks pregnant. This might or might not be what your wife is looking for so let her have a look and decide for herself

Hardcore???? A few press ups and lunges is hardly hardcore as i have clients in their 50's and 60's doing this but hey its what you are looking for. I also have clients that come from all over the country and do their workouts from home. I do recommend someone local though if you can get them.

thanks and appreciated - i'll pass it on and see what she thinks. Is dietary information included in the assessment and watched as weeks go by too?

why not start now, the two of ye do it together.... healthy eating, no junk food allowed in the house, maybe treat at weekend only. take turns in making fresh fruit salads, fresh mixed salads for lunch, lots of healthy cook books about,
She could do aqua natal classes, yoga ect now also. Never too late to start.
Also bootcamp with buggy for all post natal women in most of the parks now. These are run in the morning twice or three times a week and mums excercise with new baby! Ideal. The best encouragment is to assist in cookin buying and preparing healthy food
Also family weekend activitives can be a trip to the park with the kids. they can be cheaply entertained in the playground for FREE and your wife does a quick few laps around the park. Time her and get her to try to beat her personal best!

Ah here now, 'well built'? I happen to be in one of those vids, care to rephrase?! :pac: As for heavy weights, the icechamber vid b-builder posted is an excellent example of a woman who's worked her ass off to get her figure back, and she's lifting heavy.

She could easily head out to Transform, get a program she can do herself at home and then head back to him once or twice a month to review her progress. I bet you anything that once she gets started she'll be dying to join a gym also to progress a bit more.

Was just going to say I didn't see any "Well Built" ladies in the videos on Transfroms page. All the ladies look in amazing shape. They certainly put the work in and it shows.

All the best with the new arrival
