Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Charities to be supported this year are ARC Cancer Support and St Francis Hospice in Raheny and the Show will again be sponsored by AXA Insurance. Vehicles on display will include Veteran, Vintage and Classic Cars and Motorbikes. Also selected Commercial and Military Vehicles, Kit and Custom Cars, Sports and Super Cars and One Marque Clubs will be invited.

Car Clubs/groups and Autojumblers/Traders should contact the IJDC immediately via the website for booking information.

I think that is the car show I went last year :-) and after that I dive in the classic car world.

I will go back this year definitely.

The entrance fee of €20 is for people to come and see the car or for people to show their car?

    Cheers

This is a great show and well put together.
If you enjoy this one you should make the trip to Ballymena on 26 June to the
    www.aovcclassicshow.co.uk
It's probably bigger than Terenure but has cars that you will never see down South.
Go to both of these shows and you will see alot of classics.

Hope the marshals remember where our stand is this year

    Can I ask a question here…
This is the very same pricing as our show and yet the very same people who slated us as rip off merchants are quite happy to pay it here?
Don’t get me wrong I love the Terenure show and we have a large number of our member support it, and it is one of the best shows in the country.
I just cant understand it……

well i think its a liberty & wont have my car there, i did however pre book mosney & enjoyed it but 20 yokies is too much sorry i will only be a spectator at terenure & for the record there was a good buzz about the entry fee yesterday & a lot of people are peed off about it & wont be back so its up to you lot who organise the shows, i will always have a couple of classics & if this is the way forward i wont be showing them as i cant really afford it at the moment, i just dont get the pay you 10 or 20 to park in a field so other people can PAY to see my car & my work !!

Car passes will be posted out shortly after the closing date for pre-registered entries on June 20th - please remember to have the pass visible on the windscreen before you enter the grounds.
Each pass covers the car, driver an one passenger.

Car entries on the day will cost €20 and please download and complete an Entry Form from www.irishjagclub.ie to bring with you.

Entry fees for the public on the day are :
    Adults - €12, Families - €25, Children & OAPs - €5

Proceeds from the show will go to ARC Cancer Support and St Francis Hospice, Raheny.

Its a great show and I love it, but it always irks me when I see that if I decide to bring my car along on the day that I get changed MORE than a member of the public who are paying to see the work we did on our cars.

but still great show and I've prepayed anyway, don't want to sound grumpy!

I know it's for charity but why do the cars have to pay? If there were no cars there wouldn't be a show......

You can take it as a general rule of thumb that the further a show is from the East coast of this country , the better an exhibitor is treated....

how true is that! Some little local shows treat you like a king.... feed you, give you a trophy or a plaque and don't charge a red cent.(mind you the flask at Mosney was much better than a plaque)

Quick question here - is the cheque for entry to be made out to Isabelle McCann herself?

I dont go to any shows anymore where I have to pay to exhibit my car,to me its like asking a band to pay to play at a concert.
Even when its for charity the organisers under whatever title they have take any credit going and not the exibitors.
Anyway alot of these shows are getting stale,I get more of a buzz exibiting my car driving down the high street where it belongs:)

I have to agree with those who question the entry fee here.
An exhibitor can be charged more than a spectator ???
Limerick show....€5 per classic (including all passengers) on the day
€5 per person (adults) for the general public.

However the Terenure (wonder if that woman from the AIB ad on telly pops in) show is the biggest in the country and is always well worth a look.

I was at the classic car show and sale in Swords in April. The organisers there have got it sorted very well.
All cars in the sale area (indoors) have to pay a fee.
Visiting classics and classic clubs are were admitted free of charge(including all passengers) to a seperate area in the show.
They could come and go whenever they like and the iceing on the cake was that they had their own gate to exit.No delays,no overheating.
The organisers here are classic car people and realise that there would be no show without the classics and classic clubs,so they look after them well.
Still looking forward to Terenure. It't the biggest and the best.

In fairness Lads almost all the money goes to charity about 60k and some goes to the school whose grounds its hosted in.

If you go along at 5pm you can see all the cars leaving ....so its like classic car live. Earlier if it rains.

It's going to be my first time bringing a car, i'm taking a 1986 Porsche 911. How is it organized? Do I park with all the other Porsches, or does it even matter?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,246 ✭✭✭mgbgt1978

Anon, If you're not showing as part of a club you will be directed to the general area, but don't worry this is still in the show area.

I've attended this show for many years and can say that it's well worth the money! It's bigger now than it ever was (in the past it was in smaller venues such as harolds cross hospice, and portobello barricks one year if I remember corectly).

It'll be my first year bringing a vehicle, and indeed my clubs first year to attend. We're a fairly young club and will be looking for plenty of support - we'll be there early so please call over to us and say hello!

Our website is www.mvpsi.net if you want to take a look at what we're bringing along (its small numbers for a club, but we'll have twice that for next year!)

Looking forward to seeing ye there,
    Daithi

Thats just wrong in my opinion.

Charging people who are showing/displaying their vintage/classic vehicle MORE than Joe Soap who parks his car in the carpark and does nothing more than walk around looking at all the cars, enjoying the entertainment.

Without the exhibitors, there is no show, wouldnt you agree?

Why not charge them €12 like the Adults arriving on the day?

You get driver plus a passenger in for €20, so collect a Joe Soap, charge him €12, and you'll get in for less than the rest of us:D.

also one gets the plate, and i think a sambo ! and its all for charity lets not for get that, its not as if they are making money !! it goes to charity..

Joe soap maybe 12 euro but 2 people is 24 euro,

prebooking and its cheap, i forgot what it was now as prebooked most of the shows at one time but I think its 10 euro for two plus car.

Its a show thats well worth it, and also always for a good cause.

    Pre registering costs a tenner.
In fairness, the smaller shows are glad to see anyone turn up. However, once a show becomes successful and gets really big, every dog and devil wants to turn up on the day.
How can the organisers be expected to let just anyone and everyone in?
So they incentivise you to book early, and penalise you for turning up at the last minute. Helps them organise the day.

Isnt the pre registering date long gone?

    Letting everyone and anyone in?
Eh,isnt that the whole point of a Vintage Show, let everyone and anyone show what they have?
Penailising people for deciding to enjoy a sunny day while showing there old car?

Im sorry but theres no defense in my eyes for charging more to people who turn up on the day to show their car as opposed to people who turn up on the day to see the cars.
Its just greed in my opinion, simple as that.

Pre register date was 4 days ago, the 20th.
There is only a finite amount of room at the grounds. I'm guessing they cant let everybody in. I'm just imagining what its like if you are an organiser for these events. Big shows have to be controlled and organised I guess.:)

And priced accordingly, which this show is not doing unfortunately.

Anyway,I could be here all day arguing the facts, gave my opinion, hope the show goes well for the chosen charities and lots of people turn up BUT maybe the organisers might review their pricing plan for next year, before they turn more people off shows like this.:)

    Hi all,

I dont normally go to shows but am making an effort to attend this one. It will cost me well over e200 to travel from Galway with a car transporter so the pre-book fee is small change!

I drive 1915, 1920, 1925 and 1930's, vintage cars all the time, racking up lots of miles over the year so standing looking at my car all day is not normally fun but, I have promised myself to do this show.

    A number of questions some of you seem to be in the know here;

    1. Where can I park my transporter, its around 40feet long?
    2. Are the exibits roped off?
    3. If not, can we do this ourselves (I carry insurance PLI insurance)?
    4. What is the 'Center Circle'?
    5. Where do I park the car, are they grouped or random?

While I do want to show my car, I will NOT allow it to be used as a playground for bored children or mis-informed adults, I need my car for business and something as simple as a broken door spring would keep it off the road for a considerable time.

I am bringing my 1930 Packard Presidential, first owned by Buster Keaton, it was also in 'Empire of The Sun', the epic Stephen Spielberg film.
(it was also in the recent 'Denny' ad, maybe not as glam, but there you go!)

See you all on the day, I will be the one with the Stun Gun!

    Regards,

    Pat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,944 ✭✭✭Bigus

You should be able to park the transporter on fortfield road beside the green opposite st pius's church look on google maps.

I have always attended terenure but will not be there this year....

I find the requirement for clubs to prepay this year is a pain in the arse ..... you need to prepay a minumum of five slots and IMHO is passing needless paperwork over to the clubs who wish to attend....

I don't really understand the reason prepayment -- prebooking yes-- but there is always loads of space for everyone

As for the "Austin Martin" plate last year

that was the year before I think Aidan....:D otherwisw I agree..We got so much grief over booking a club stand at a show "in the north" that I wouldnt bother even thinking of going there in the future...

Terenure I'm looking forward to ..and Trim...because its a CAR show not a tractor or stationery engine show with a few dubious stalls selling trash.
