Prediction are never 100% there based on stats. Tbh if you didn't study another poet because you heard thats a high chance in Boland coming up thats your fault, not people who predicted it.

Aggreed, but it would have been nice if every single person every asked "Who's gonna come up?" didn't say Boland

Having just read a thread earlier called "Will they mark Boland harder?" I just had to laugh reading this.

    Cruel but satisfying.

    LOL :D

    "Prediction"

    taking from an online dictionary:
    –verb (used with object)
    1.
to take an estimated guess in advance; prophesy; foretell: to predict the weather; to predict the fall of a civilization.

yeah when she was handing out the paper i got mine first and had sneek look and she wasnt there....i said **** under my breath but not as quiet as a i though cause everyone else heard and started to go mental!! lol

my teacher was so smug after...her predictions of rich and yeats came up....
i bull****ted myself 4 pages for yeats and i think it was pretty good lol
turned the bull**** factor to high and went to town

NO MORE ENGLISH EVER AGAIN THO

You should have learned the two wimmens in fairness. Rich Q was tasty!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,062 ✭✭✭DancingQueen:)

Really wanted her to come up, couldn't believe it when her and Longley didn't show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 80 ✭✭RyanK

I learned Yeats, and only Yeats. Funny thing is, we studied 5 poets in our class. 4 of those came up, Longley being the one that didn't. We didn't learn Boland due to everyone else answering on it and the fact that most of us would rely on Boland. I'm so glad we didn't learn Boland.

    Same here.:(
    I nearly fainted.:(
F*** It nothing we can do now only study for rest of our exams.

It's going to be hard not to think about it, but there's nothing we can do. Seriously annoying though!

Personally I decided against Boland last night and took a gamble with Longley and Eliot. Was bricking it all day, was terrible considering I had engineering first. Cried a little when I saw eliot :P

Studied Boland this morning. Delighted that my boy Patrick Kavanagh came up. BEST POET EVER!!!!!!!

You played the game....you lost the game....better luck next time ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,919 ✭✭✭Bob the Builder

I am genuinely shocked that Boland didn't come up. Everyone, and I mean everyone predicted that. After all, they couldn't just disappear a woman off the paper. Instead they switched female poet which nobody expected.

However, 'TECHNICALLY', you can still fail your poetry section and get an A1 in your english... And you can technically still get an A2 had you not attempted your prescribed poetry at all.

A prediction is a prediction at the end of the day.

why couldn't people see that boland was way to fecking obvious... expecially after yesterdays paper being the first paper ever not to have a picture for the essay:confused::confused::confused: surely ta god people should have at least looked over another poet JUST IN CASE... at least one other poet...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,744 ✭✭✭theowen

Why was everyone so sure on Boland coming up? It was a 50/50 chance between her and Rich:confused:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 gor93

delighted for the ***** that study the fcuk outta boland .....I only studied one poet yeats ha ....... it was too obvious with all them mouths out dere

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,686 ✭✭✭Kersmash

Agreed. I'd feel a lot more sympathy for those who studied Longley and Boland.

You are expected to know at least five poets from the paper. If you do one, you have to face the consequences.

Not everyone only learned one  I knew at least 3 well and I still found it really difficult to answer the questions today.

The predictions on 2fm were on the ball except for Boland..... :D I'd covered Boland and Kavanagh and it worked out perfectly. Would have been prepared to write a Eliot answer but I wasn't willing to take the risk. About a minute after the exam ended, I had thrown all english books out of a window. ;)

To the people who were relying on Boland:
    20070715-pwned1.jpg
Even has Rich in the middle. :pac:
Sorry had to be done, but seriously everyone should have done the two women at least.

I don't bad for all the people who only studied Longley and Boland. I told ye to do more than 2 poets.

    Kavanagh and Rich! oh yeah!
I was so tempted to cram Longley this morning after reading some of the predictions here, thank god I didn't!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 307 ✭✭Orlaladuck

I knew Boland best but thank christ I studied Yeats really well. I feel really sorry for people though, Loads of people were banking on her. I know your supposed to know 3-5 but still, i can't imagine how horrible that must have been.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 172 ✭✭madlad88

fecking joke . . .. so predicitons for english and home ec have been completley wrong cant trust anything now :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,739 ✭✭✭johnmcdnl

Boland is so much easier than rich.. I'll convince myself that boland is coming up and try to tell everyone else that too.. therefore my reasoning will automatically make boland come up because i want it to come up...

seriosuly.. how hard would it have been to at least learn the 2 women... like come on... in fairness... it was 50/50 for just boland in fairness... the flip of a coin... seriously guys

    Nice name bud :D
I completely counted on Boland. But luckily I knew Longley, Kav, Yeats and Eliot, just now as well, not nearly as well. Got 2 useless pages on Eliot. On the plus side, my Lear and Comparative went unreal, which I wasn't expecting:D:D:D:D

Answered on Yeats, but man, I am SO glad I studied Rich! :) Most of my year banked on Boland and there was a very loud gasp when everyone turned to the Poetry section, swiftly followed by a, "For f***'s sake!"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 319 ✭✭gemxpink

    WB Yeats :D

Lol leave my thread alone! It was an honest question :P

I had Yeats fully prepared too anyway to back me up, so i got a good 4 and half pages. Feel sorry for those who only did Boland though. Ah well. It's all over now :) Apart from the next 6 subjects....

I went for Eliot, never even considered Boland. Just reading over it now, I wonder if I actually mentioned the style of his poetery at all.

    Arse.

None of the q's were personal responses, right?

They sooo rewarded the people who studied Rich. I feel rewarded :D
