I know 5HD is launching this summer but will it be like channel4 HD, only available to sky customers or FTV white card customers in the UK?

I imagine that it will be UK only.

I'd say it'd be most definitely UK only, encrypted in some form. Wouldn't be surprised if it ended up on the HD mix, though I'd hope it'll be available with FTV card.

As far as I can tell all the C4 channels are HD FTA, nearly the same resolution as BBC HD

Only Channel 4 HD is HD and its not FTA its FTV with Sky UK sub or UK Sky freesatfromsky card (aka FTV card)

BBC HD and ITV1 HD and Luxe HD are the only FTA HD channels at the moment. BBC1 HD is due in the Autumn.

C4 HD is only viewable with a UK FTV card. However only a minority of programmes on it are in actual HD. The rest are upscaled SD.

After trying this frequency on Sky+ HD box. No channels found. Is this the right frequency? I tried 12422H 27.5 2/3 where Five USA and Fiver are but there is nothing new there.

Yes. Tried this evening and getting no satellite signal message. Must have switched off test. Worth keeping an eye on this transponder though..

Completely different settings this time though (bar Frequency).

Interestingly, the DOG on 3858 Shows Sky1 (not Sky1HD) and is viewable with an FTV card Wonder how long that'll last!

Yup, that transponder is working.

Regarding the Vu+, I don't wanna drag this thread off topic - there's a big Vu+ thread on Foreign Satellite forum (suffice to say I think it's a great box, though I don't have the DTT tuner yet, nor have I properly sorted EPG yet).

Won't be able to access it then through a Sky HD box via other channels for the moment. That symbol rate can't be selected in the manual tuning menu.

It was fine when I initially got the feed, but went out of sync last night at some stage. I think they are just testing so I sure it will be sorted before launch. I'll refresh the EPG later and see if it it's showing.

Yes its a shame that E4 HD and Sky news HD are sub channels.

Im quite a fan of Five. Like some of their programming. Gadget show, Fith gear etc.

Documentry on tonight abouth the oil rig that blew up in the gulf of mexico.

Five Hd starts on sky on channel 171 next tuesday 13th July. On that day the HD programmes are:
Neighbours, Home and Away, K-Ville,Grey's Anatomy

It will be available on a skyhd box with UK FTV card.

Not for me. I've got the UK FTV card, but all I'm getting is ''no satellite signal is being received''. The SD version is coming through as normal on 105. Any ideas out there?

Same as that. Does it only come on when showing HD programs or what?

It broadcasts all the time. When not showing actual HD content, it shows all the other programmes in upscaled SD.

FiveHD appeared for me yesterday on channel 171. Maybe power down your Sky+HD box for a minute or so, or leave it on overnight. May appear in EPG then.

Its on the EPG at 171 alright but i just get signal not received.
I will power down once i get home, should be only a small issue, i hope!!!
